o transfer of a WT rider can be confirmed prior to the 1st of August.
Okay, then we'll just have to wait. But it seemed pretty certain from what I read. Strange choice by Carapaz. I can understand him moving to a new team, but EF doesn't exacatly seem among the best managed teams in top cycling.

Either way, it makes since trying to steal riders from a main competitor. It is just unfortunate with teams so much stronger, but it is like that in many sports.

The thing is that I really really wanted cycling to not in that direction but well...
It's also that cycling is one of those sports that isn't just about the rider, but also about material, non clinic related products, etc. Things that are usually incredibly expensive and thus more accessible for rich teams.

They're trolling Ineos with this and Van Baarle.
How big is their budget? it must be close to UAE and Ineos these days.

I'm guessing at least 30 million

total budget (cycling and speed skating) is ~35 mil according to this article (up from 25 two years ago)

So Mike Teunissen is close to signing with Wanty... Pity but understandable, Laporte made him obsolete...
He'll be leadout for Bini and get freedom in classics plus probably a guarantee for a Tour spot. Bike-Exchange wanted to bring back the dynamic duo with DG back together to try and repeat the legendary domination of 2019 4 Jours de Dunkerque, but Mike decided otherwise possibly because of the team's WT status uncertainty.

Gosh no, I'm gonna find it hard to keep rooting for Wanty... Losing Hirt and Quinten Hermans while adding Rui Costa and Teunissen is a huge blow in terms of personal likability :(

By the way, it's funny Aike Visbeek talked about the need of building a cohesive team for TdF and Hermans would bring rare air to the team, and then goes on to sign two of the most selfish riders in the peloton in Costa and Teunissen.

Haven't really been paying much attention to this so far this summer, but as far I understand:

Carapaz is confirmed to EF Education?
Both Yates and Van Baerle are also rumoured leaving Ineos?

Together with Porte retiring, this would mean a much weaker Ineos roster. Any rumours on riders incoming?

I actually hope they prioritize one day races somewhat more when signing new riders. And not just filling up the squad with domestiques for GT racing, especially when they have no one that can challenge Pog and Vingegaard in the Tour.
From what I've read of speculations, Ineos could buy out Rogla. I find it highly unlikely, but it would put them back in contention for the Tour win.

Are we sure Bernal doesn't have a higher chance of contesting the win? It all depends on all of the injuries, and we will know a lot more in a short time as Bernal starts racing again. Then again, nobody thought Evans, the aging allrounder, could beat the on paper better riders in 2011 in Contador and Schleck. The situation is pretty alike.

If Bernal had avoided injuries after 2019, he could/should have been almost on par with Pog and Vingeegard in the mountains by now. But over two injury-plagued seasons must certainly have hampered his developement. But agree that he should be a equally good or better option than signing Roglic.

I think Rog should rather concentrate on the Giro next season. I'm pretty sure that the Sloveanians would pay much to host some stages if Roglic entered the race. Perhaps even the last weekend? With a couple of mountain stages, a Lljubjana stage and perhaps a last stage to Trieste?

Costa did a lot of work for Almeida in the Giro. He might work for Hermans (he just needs to ask for portuguese nationality first LOL).

Ciro Scognamiglio says Piccolo is rumored to transfer mid season to EF. Can't say I like it for Piccolo, EF doesn't ride many small races and he has already lost more than two years in his development.

Seeing how a lot of other riders flourish there, its probably a great choice.

Hmmm, that would be his 3rd team in one season, is that even allowed?

I have no idea. Piccolo's career defies any logic. EF would be his 6th team in less than 3 years.
He was available for a long time at the beginning of the year and no WT/PCT picked him. Now he gets a few good results and suddenly offers come.

Lampaert probably saved his skin with that prologue win.
Maybe for staying at QS on a fair deal, but he would have get offers from other teams. He is still a good rider for Flemish races, semiclassics and sprint trains.

Devenyns, Keisse, Stybar and Cav out
Merlier, Hirt, Casper Pedersen in

Limbo: Steels (?)
