I had Schweinberger as my favourite for Chrono des Nations, but it was another close finish between her and Kiesenhofer, who proved to be the strongest on the day.

How my fantasy cycling team finished. As you can see the Aussies let me down. Finished 42nd out of 240. So happy days. But I'd gone with Reusser instead of Vos, i'd have been top ten.

Already started with next years squad... Lizzie, Cul, Kool, Brown, Steels, Fisher-Black, Manly... so many of my favourite riders had good seasons & thus are going to be unaffordable for next season.... literally suffering from success.

Break out stars according to cycling news.
Charlotte Kool
Mishca Bredewold
Antonia Niedermaier
Ricarda Bauernfeind
Gaia Realini
Christina Schweinberger

Honorable mentions, Kerbaol, Shirin van Anrooij Daria Pikulik, Kasia Niewiadoma

Ignoring the fact Kool, & Realini broke through last year, I would add Ewers, Steels, Pfeiffer, & Fisher-Black

Realini didn't really progress that much between 2021 and 2022, so I think it's fair to call this year her real breakthrough.

I guess theyre talking about stage wins and stage win contenders as "breakthroughs", as Id have said Kool broke through last year in terms of talent to spot, but its this year when shes winning stages in races and considered a likely stage contender among the other main winning riders. Realini well she should have won that stage at the start of the year, which makes her stand out, but she also was considered a contender for stage wins for alot of races where it did seem Trek had dulled her chances as the year went by.

You may be able to afford them in the Women's CQ game here, or some permutation of riders you are happy to cheer for. Yes: I have found another thread to plug it on. Entries by the start of the women's TDU which is on Friday: that's 11:10 NSW Aussie time, so 01:10 am CET, or in effect, before you go to bed(or out) on Thursday night.

I'ma be real with you, I've never really paid that much attention to the TDU, it's the middle of wintersport season and takes place in the middle of the night, so I'll catch a summary and that'll usually do me.

It may be about to rapidly rise in my estimation to become one of the finest races on the calendar.

Edit: nope.

Thas a great first pro win for Noemi Rüegg. I thought Movistar was setting it up nicely, but they lost gas and then UAE became the favourites. However neither Sierra or Consonni had enough left to beat the Swiss.

Noemi was the fastest, they all started at the same time. Consonni had to bridge with a teammate after the roundabout, still podium.

It was a surprise victory for Ruegg, however, she was the fastest - I find it hard to beleieve that the Liv Alula Jayco team are not riding these races as its a chance to race their European contingent in lesser competition - It seems a waste of time for them to go to UAE tour.

They do have García riding for the national team in the two other races.

I am aware of this and more the reason for them to be riding these races and the Spanish races in February - The team is limited, so you need to ride a suitable calendar - Reckon if they were at this race then Paternoster wins the sprint.

I guess the teams also have to get used to riding races in January instead of having training camps.

Did Ruegg just won with a sort of TT helmet? I know EF and their helmets but never seen something like it in a normal race.

They've started to use these ugly helmets this year with build-in earmuffs, which are supposed to be more aerodynamic.
