He's been a Trek-guy (and ambassador) forever. Afaik he even owns a Trek shop and service in Denmark (at least he did a couple of years ago).

The only way he would leave the team, would be if Trek sold it to someone else - who then changed the bike sponsor.

Pedersen himself made the reference before the first stage while speaking to a journalist. After the stage, the journalist asked if he could call him Peppa Pigesen. Pedersen replied, "Do what you want, but Pigesen sounds really nasty in Danish."
