Maybe he's refering to the Charlie Quarterman episode during Omloop. Anyway it seems that the brakes might actually be too good, cause the whole had a hard time getting up to speed today.

Mads Pedersen apparently both suffering from pains after his crash - and has a cold.

He said today, that he has resigned himself to just getting through the Tour, to build form for the fall season.

So, last year at the Tour he was in brilliant form, and got caught up in the taking-turns-thing at Trek.
This year, he was declared the sole sprinter before the start of the race, and has had bad luck, so doesn't really have it.

So Pederson has been ill for most of the season - Had good results either side of PN but otherwise has struggled.

Pedersen hasn't been inconsistent in the Tour - he's been consistently bad. I do agree that he normally is inconsistent, though. He has few good results, and more often than not is he's not a factor, but when he does get a result, it's usually in a big race - and then he fights for the win.

I said after his Worlds win that he'll never be prolific, but he will win races occasionally, - and they'll usually be big ones. I'll stick with that opinion.

I think this guy should definitely be discussed more than he´s at this point. I totally can see him winning a green jersey at the TDF 2022. While WvA spending energy for Rog and Jakobsen sprinting dominance being shrinked by fighting against other top fastest men and simultaneously by getting zero points from hilly stages, Pedersen might be the man to bet your money on. His sprint is faster than WvA´s one and he, certainly, can get those important points from hilly stages.

One of the Roubaix favourites for sure. The race should suit the Danes better (Asgreen and Mads that is). Hopefully Wout gets back, and these guys will give Mathieu a run for his money!
