Teams & Riders The official Egan Bernal is the new Egan Bernal thread

He mailed it in yesterday quite frankly.

He did the final climb in 1'05...

pretty much the slowest of anyone in the race.

You had sprinters doing it 10 minutes faster (albeit they had incentive to beat cut for most part).

I guess it was semi on-purpose to try and go stage hunting.

14 minutes down before? Maybe some of the teams fighting for top 10 dont want him in the break.

Now? No-one will care.

Anything can happen at any time TBH. I have been surprised so many times in cycling to learn that all predictions should come with grain or rocks of salt. I never saw the fisherman coming as the biggest contender for Pogacar, nor did I see an Slovenian to be the next Merkx. Bernal can retire tomorrow not coping with the new cycling or he can change teams and find a new self.

Who knows!

Good news for Bernal. It appears he didn't get COVID and will be able to stay in the race.

When Bernal made his way through the mixed zone at the start of stage 16 in Gruissan on Tuesday, he found himself debunking rumours that his future in the race was also in doubt due to COVID-19. The Colombian was happy to confirm that he had tested negative for the coronavirus.

"I've just heard the news myself. I didn't know it was out there, but it's false," Bernal said. "It's true that I've had the flu twice during this Tour, but I've done tests and I'm not positive for COVID-19."

Egan to ride the Giro and Vuelta for 2025.
As leader? Or stagehunter?

He's one guy whom I hope can get back to his former level. I don't follow the Colombian sporting press but as far as I know he's never complained, never demanded to be a leader and never blamed anyone since his horrible accident (or even before that with his back injury).

A Giro podium would be fantastic.

There are not many leaders in INEOS anymore TBH.
