I thought the issue last year was the massive race load. His main challenge has been recovery and his mental state. Over the past year, he has shown glimpses of strong performance, but the focus now is on gradually rebuilding his confidence. By the end of the season, it became clear that his struggles were primarily mental, leading Ineos and him to prioritize addressing that first. This year’s schedule has been carefully planned with that in mind.
Let’s hope for the best!
That has been the opinion of some people. I don't think so. When you are racing in Plateau de Belle and you are thinking about the Tour de Spain, the problem is mental IMHO.I thought the issue last year was the massive race load.
I agree with you.I still worry if he can ride a three week stage race for GC, however, I can see him winning a GT stage. He should be fine for one week races and please do more one day races.
His calendar looked very sensible (before his injury today). Is he gonna overrace like a maniac again this year?
If it is just his collarbone, I'm relieved. I thought it was way worse.Fractured Collarbone first official report from Ineos.

This guy climbing the col d'eze with a broken collarbone????
You think Bernal can be competitive for the win at the Giro? I would be very happy with a top 5 honestly.Going to Colombia now to altitude training. Team and Bernal feel very good about his 7th place after the collarbone break. only regret is the stage that was shortened. It left them without one reference point.

'It'd be hard to find someone more resilient' - Egan Bernal eyes Grand Tours success after Volta a Catalunya comeback
Colombian finished seventh following broken collarbone in Clásica Jaénwww.cyclingnews.com
Well, on that last point, it left a lot of riders without the extra reference point. I am not sure if we can just project the results from the Barcelona circuit into the performance of the previous stage. It is a different kind of effort. But what do I know, a lot of people in this forum feel like they already know the results of the Giro.
I have no idea. But he looked so good at the beginning of the year. And even for a rider just returning from a broken collarbone. I think his only issue was his recovery. His power has been there since last year, but he is not recovering very well. And at that moment he breaks mentally as well. So we don't know. Hopefully he recovers well and gains confidence for the future. You think Bernal can be competitive for the win at the Giro? I would be very happy with a top 5 honestly.
