He's one of those riders that tend to bend but not break. When they're on a day good enough to attack the hardest climbs in a race, they usually don't crumble afterwards.
Very happy for him. He has often been a frustrating guy to cheer for, but he more than made up for any previous disappointments. Bauke Mollema will now be remembered in the annals of the sport as a Monument winner. And there was no element of luck to it. He was smart and he was strong.

Mollema announced that he's going to focus more on classics for the next years. Even possibly riding RVV.
But he also says he still wants to ride for a GC in the TDF as well.

Nibali probably does the Giro,while Porte is focusing on one week races, results in Mollema riding GC at the TDF.

I read this as “we’re a long way from being a genuine GC contenders, but we have riders who can win other types of race.”

Guys please help Mollema. He should not lose to Evenepoel in a poll after winning Lombardia, top 5 Giro + wc + ec mr title.
Just consider yourself superior to most other cycling fans and consider it a win.
Nibali and Mollema could be a strong unit in Liege and Lombardia. And I'd like to watch Porte dom for Mollema in the Tour. 
From what Guercilena said when he was at Radiocorsa some weeks ago is more likely that Mollema will be the leader in one day races but Nibali's helper/second fiddle in GTs, he also hinted that the Tour could be very good for Ciccone and they are considering to send him undertrained to the Giro to be of some help in the third week and then ride for the GC in France.Nibali and Mollema could be a strong unit in Liege and Lombardia. Ciccone said he doesn't want to ride GTs for GC yet. Wants to learn more from Mollema and Nibali this year (2020 season) and then target a GT in 2021.
So not sure what's true. It was also reported last year following the Giro that he would get to ride the Vuelta as a first GC try, but then they sent him to the Tour. Now we know that the Vuelta was the easiest GT to top 10 for years. So it would have been a good choice for a first try.

Ciccone doesn't feel to be able to go for the GC in a GT because of his poor ITT level but the team is keen to test him and see if at least it's something possible for the future or it's better to set different goals for him.
Well, if he - like this year - is in yellow after the Planche des Belles Filles, it would look pretty good for him.

I just watched the latest installment of EF's "Gone Racing." The piece covers Taylor Phinney's last pro race at the Japan Cup among other vignettes.
Apparently in the Japan Cup, Mike Woods and Bauke were away and would "sprint" for the win. Woods wasn't clear which lap they were on and in the last kilometer of the race asks Bauke "how far to the finish?"
Bauke tells him "Ten Kilometers" then almost immediately attacks Woods FTW.
Vaughters left trying to explain to the loss later... You can't make this stuff up.

I don't really believe them. The DS tells Woods "start sprinting in the last corner, take the inside line". The next scene they are talking about "Woods didn't know it was the last lap". Doesn't make sense to me.
