Well I have found posting "utter drivel" 3500 times a lot of fun! I imagine you must be in a bad mood after having to clean up after him when he has the runs.

Maybe I'll get him to come on this forum so you can ask some questions. Like where he gets his hair done, or is Cadel really that good looking?

Kudos on blocking this thread up by the way. It's been a great help.

This works both ways though. You should not be scared of people disagreeing with you by calling them trolls. There is no need to lose your temper just because you disagree with someone. You should accept counter views without throwing your toys out of the pram. It's because of people like you that I don't post here.

There is one poster who has been banned over 30 times that is the target of 90% of all troll accusations. Outside of his usernames you seldom see this accusation used here

Met him, raced against him. Had former teammates race with him on several teams. The reports from generally positive and talented people are not good; paticularly about his personal ambitions and the damage he's willing to do and to whom. Fans or critics can see attributes differently but there have been few sportsmen so single minded.

Well there you go, that's more than enough for me to know and judge a person.

Never met LA, but I've known a lot of bike racers over the years. Egotism, single mindedness, a sense superiority, and generally being jerks is not uncommon, in fact I detect a bit of those qualities in a lot of posts here. But I know that there is almost always a lot more to a person than first, second, third or 20th impressions. IE: I understand that I am not qualified to judge people I think I know well, let along public figures who all I know is through the lens of the media and interwebz lynch mob.

There is a difference between disagreeing with somebody and disagreeing with a troll. There are countless people on here who I disagree with but only one or two have been trolls. A troll is somebody who when pointed out as incorrect on something, they keep moving the goalposts to continuosly goad people, there only aim is to cause mayhem which is what has happened countless times and this is where a lot of the so called "hate" is obvious.

As for 9000ft or that other person, we have had plenty of their kind here, Speedway a prime example. They take this "better than you" approach because they are not so petty but they add nothing to the forum so why bother reading at all. Look at their post pattern, its nearly always in Lance related threads, do we see them in most racing threads, Basque Country for example. Answer no, so they are only interested on people hating on Lance, now that is sad and suggests they are only interested in Lance as opposed to the sport in general. As pointed out there are countless other threads not involving Lance, post in them if you are upset by lance getting hammered.

I dont know any other popular English speaking cycling forums, at leat none better than here. I had a look at the RBR forum recently, they have a thread on the Basque Tour that has barely 30 posts whilst the equivilant here is approaching the 1000 mark. All their other threads have a handful of posts, its mighty quiet there. To me, this is the most popular and best English language forum, of course if somebody can point in another direction, I will check it out.

I have been here since the start and have lost count of the people who signed up and have said how much they have learned since joining the forum. I havent had any problems with anybody on here, no crazy private PMs, no name calling, one or two times people ****ed me of but then I just remember its an internet forum, no big deal. If people are easily offeneded as some obviously are, then internet forums of any sort are not the place to be at all in general.

(or debate them with a more compelling argument).

But you are correct.

I'd like to point out that the Tour of Basque has 1/4 of the activity (views, posts) as this one days, but has only been active a week, compared to a few months. Please don't just read the Lance thread and make a judgement based on what goes on here. This thread is horrible at least 75% of the time.

Pinewood Derby

Let's get back to the topic - our boy Lance.

He supposedly pulled out of AGR, FW, & LBL and came back to America to spend more time with his family, mentioning especially that he wanted to spend time with his son at the Pinewood Derby race. From Lance's tweets:

05:35 Apr 08
Woke up feeling much better this morning. Headed back to the States. @lukearmstrong has his pinewood derby this wknd. Big race..

So Lance flew to Texas, tweeting yesterday:
Cruisy 2.5 hour ride here in ATX. Bluebonnets (our state flower) are incredible right now.

But today, he tweeted:
Wireless on the plane, iPad in hand, following @procyclinglive, go @hornerakg go!!!
(and)
Heading to Charlotte and a visit to the A2 wind tunnel. Testing a few things.

So - is the Pinewood Derby not on Saturday, but Sunday? Are we taking young Luke's little car halfway across the country to the wind tunnel in Charlotte for testing? Is the Derby actually not until May 1 (as other Austin scout group websites list it?)

The point is - why leave France so quickly? Was spending time with his son his real intent, or just a noble-sounding excuse?

It must be hell keeping up with his Adams reports.

maybe his son got gastro and had to pull out of the race?

Seriously, I have no idea and I guarantee you no one will ask him or the Radio Shack press department or ever mention it again. But it is a very astute observation soon to be dismissed as hate or the product of your cancer-loving mind

Lance should be out training and not tweeting this dull rubbish. Im looking forward to the first ITT at the Tour when we will learn more about this guy, and wether this Radioshack man is for real and not a timewaster.

I think you may be in for a pleasant/unpleasant (delete as appropriate) surprise if old man Horner's ITT display today is a pointer to RS's preparation.

so how many posts do we need involving dirt slinging and angry rhetoric to not be a sock puppet?

First ITT TDF - Lance in the top 10. That is my prediction.

As far as being a joke or an insult, search this forum for the reference.

“Decent argument” in this thread is defined as any post that bashes LA, other posters, or ignites a typical feeding frenzy amongst the handbag bunch, resulting in lost portions of dorsal fins and possibly losing one of those razor sharp teeth..

“Continuity of the thread” - you have got to be kidding me. The inference that this thread has any continuity is just another sad reflection on the folks around here that have their blinders strapped on every morning before they sit down at the computer.

I have been lurking here since the forum opened, only “joined” last August, and I continue to amazed and appalled at the lack of respect for what is essentially an unmoderated forum.

Most posts here are by a very small group. My estimate is that over 97.46 percent of the posts are made by less than 30 folks, and because they do not respect the rules of an unmoderated forum, this forum has evolved (or devolved) into a classic example of groupthink.

Many posters here ignore the forum rules regarding personal attacks, any mention of doping only in the Clinic, etc, etc. Because the forum is unmoderated, there are effectively no rules, and what becomes of a group that realizes that there are no penalties for breaking rules?

Over the last few weeks I have seen some members essentially (and literally) saying “Thanks, I’ll be getting my coat now.” This is a direct result of the status quo freaking out over anyone who does not buy into the group mentality.

This forum will continue to have very low participation of individual posters unless posters respect the forum rules. In one of my previous posts, I posted a link to something I found on the web, a Twitter post that essentially said this forum is ten old ladies arguing over who hates LA more.

If that’s your idea of fun, well you’ve got it. If you want to see this forum grow through the input of many other people, clean up your act.

Well with all that said I do believe I’ll be getting my coat now
Actually your post would have been bang on - except that you directed your outrage at one group.

Actually there was debate yesterday between 'ImmaculateKadence' & 'Digger' and another between 'Kurtinsc' & I - it was civil with no personal comments, on either side.
But then a poster makes a comment about the posters - not about the subject, or offering an opinion - and before long it descends in to personal insults.

If you are going to single out a group and try and be derogatory with your comments then I don't see how you can "continue to be amazed and appalled at the lack of respect for what is essentially an unmoderated forum"

Yep. And the Pinewood Derby dates would have been known well in advance, so if it was that important to him, he could have scheduled races around it. Sometimes he puts out trial excuses for his actions and they change it later on. But mark last Monday on the calendar as a really suspicious day.

15 posts - you're nearly there! :D

But seriously -

The first ITT isn't until the second last day, unless you mean the prologue, which is 8.5km. So if he has any ambition to be near the pointy end of the GC by the end of the race I think a top 10 is necessary in that.

Just wait for the Catlin drug testing report to published on his website..... Oh wait that never started. Don't worry the internal team testing results will be published soon.... on wait they dropped that too. Just as well he's posting his UCI blood tests on the web...... hang on he doesn't do that anymore either.

Don't worry the BIO passport will pick up anything fishy. Oh he's on a plane and can't be tested and unfortunately got sick and thats going to throw off the markers.

I am not talking about you specifically. It is rather suspicious that several new posters show up; their first post is in the form of, "I have been following this forum for months and you are all haters;" the posts are made in the same thread within a few days; and at the same time we see the return a troll is known to use sock puppets. The troll is either Crazy Jack, who threatens to rape other members' wives or BPC. I haven't decided which one he is, but the posting style is more similar to Jack. It could be a coincidence, but that is not something I would be willing to bet on.

Wow, I am surprised that NOT ONE of the handbag bunch was able to suggest that the rising trend for livestrong.com was INDISPUTABLE PROOF of continued EPO use.

You guys are slacking off.

They are not handbags - they are Man Bags grrrrr.

Does Luke have the descending skills be competitive in the pinewood derby?
.

Those hard plastic wheels don't hold the track very well, so it takes skill to descend quickly. I hear Il Falco was called for advice; but after the way he was treated by the Hog, he was not too happy to offer tips.
