Those hard plastic wheels don't hold the track very well, so it takes skill to descend quickly. I hear Il Falco was called for advice; but after the way he was treated by the Hog, he was not too happy to offer tips.

Also an hour in the wind tunnel is much better than doing a six hour ride over 5 mountain passes ala Contador.

The guy's a liar, so there's no way of knowing for sure what he's doing (until he posts the photos and video). But he's been living in the bubble of millionaire celebrity for so long that he has no clue how real people react to things. He'll think that tweet put him over as a loving father who'll go the extra mile for his older son, but non-zealot, non-minions will see it as a millionaire trying to buy a win for his son in a Cub Scout competition, for God's sake.

I haven't seen one in a while, but back in the day, I think it was the official piece of pine, an Xacto knife, sandpaper, and maybe some varnish, with the idea of having fathers spend time with their sons in a simple, wholesome activity.

So, it could be the original argument about him looking for an excuse to get out of races, or else he's trying to buy a win over people who don't have the time, money, private plane and needs, or else he lied about why he's going.

As a former Cub Scout Patrol Leader, I feel confident in saying that he's doing it wrong.

Has Lance been watching Comedy Central? This from the April 15th episode last year.

Randy Marsh, determined to make sure his son Stan wins the annual state pinewood derby, slips an object into the back of the car to give it an advantage. Stan learns from a news report that the object is a superconducting magnet, stolen from the Large Hadron Collider by Randy in disguise as Princess Leia. During the finals, Randy coaxes Stan to lie to the judges and say he used only the parts in the approved pinewood derby kit. Stan wins first place when his car reaches warp speed, shooting off the track and into space, where it is later found by an alien species. We didn't have the event in my days (both my Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops specialized in camping out just as thunderstorms or tornadoes were going to hit - My socks are still wet, but my older cousin had his car on display in their basement, and I remember how cool the car was and how proud he was of it.

Your 'dismay' only appears to extend to the posters who "hate Lance" or have anything negative to say about him.
Since you appear to choose one side over the over, I am inclined to think it is not the debating style that upsets you but that it has more to do with the end recipient of any negative comments.

If it appalls you so much then stay away from the threads that mention LA or better still try to debate with those that do not share your opinion.

I usually get drawn into responding to the extremes that surround LA on this forum,that destroy any reasoned discussion surrounding him, and a lot of others that had nothing to do with him till some obsessor thought their same old lame and tired LA slam was the funniest thing ever in some unrelated thread.

Get some balance on LA, and more importantly get some of the extremists like bd, and rr etc to STFU about how abysmal he is, and how anyone who doesn't hate everything about him or related to him is stupid or worse, post after post, day after day, and this forum would be very good. I'd be almost solely a lurker rather than a poster at that point.

Remember, post not poster. If you disagree with something I have posted the best thing is to write a informative post that shows why I am incorrect. Instead you choose to call names and sling broad insults at any group that disagrees with you.

This is my point - no-one should resort to any personal attacks irrespective of the subject-matter. I honestly don't understand why you only refer to "him"? My point is it should be the same for any rider.

That is what I enjoy about this forum, as often there are new things that I have learned or got to understand from engaging with people or through reading various posts.

Whether you or I like it or not, LA will continue to grab much of the spotlight as long as he remains in the sport. His actions will continue to cause debate and often it will be polarizing, it is up to us the forum members to come up with some way to avoid it getting personal or nasty.

i don't think you realize that you are one of the better posters here. your feelings are well known, but i've never known you to be pedantic or insulting to those that disagree with you. unfortunately, i think you are in the minority.

At least you camped out when water was liquid. I remember being sent off on Scout winter campouts, which was much like a dissident being sent to a Siberian gulag. After trudging through snow in Levis and Moonboots, we had the pleasure of building snow caves. This meant that everyone got soaking wet while building their shelter. Cold does not even begin to describe the nights.

The ordeals were made worse by a Scoutmaster who must have watched too many British war films. Aside from being cheerful all the time, he thought we should sing songs as we reenacted an Antarctic version of the Bataan death march. I slept dreaming that he would be eaten by a mountain lion or attacked by hungry badgers.

I blame those traumatic experiences for the way I am today.

Wow. I lived in a small Southern Illinois farm community, and I honestly believe that when the crops were desperate for rain and prayers didn't work, they'd decide to send us out camping so the downpours would begin. (Or maybe the cool kids wanted to have birthday parties without us? ) As evidence I'll say that one of the times we put up the tents on the edge of a field, next to the creek. Another time we were in the small bit of woodlands between a borrow pit (snake infested bit of water in place of dirt used to build a levee) and a huge corn field. But this was all flat Illinois bottom land, we never did stuff in the snow or had cool wild animals trying to finish us off. Mostly just water mocassins. We were young, though.
