I really liked:

"After two days intensive work with Lance,” wrote the Belgian in his column for the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. “I can confidently conclude that the standard of his form looks good for the Tour,"

:D LOL, I'm gonna put in an intense two-day block and, bob's your uncle, I'm ready for the RAAM.

Newsflash: His strength was never lost. Just locked away in "The Cabinet of Doctor Ferrari".

Didn't Fuentes once boast to someone, a fellow "doctor", etc., on a plane that the secret to victory in the Vuelta or the Giro (forgotten) was in his briefcase, right beside him?

Sorry for multiple posts, but anyone know what's up with Lance's TT'ing? Not good since he's returned. Normally when a pro ages, doesn't the climbing go first? Odd change.

Also, I notice Bertie is putting more and more emphasis on his TT'ing, even at the expense of his climbing. Is Bertie calculating that the only way A. Schleck, etc., can even get close is to TT better (as he did last year)?

I don't know what you're getting at but it's not nice.

I remember a few years ago I took my son to the race for the roses in Austin Texas. Lance rode the first ten miles with the public and I was in the crowd waving and cheering Lance on. When Lance went past he looked across and waved at me and my son. I knew then that no way is Lance dirty. He such a big inspiration to us all and all those involved at Livestrong. I cannot wait for the Tour and win lose or draw Lance will be doing it for awareness and doing it for them.

Bravo Lance.

He's trying to distract Dr. Mas from his endless debate on the Lemond thread.

It’s not even a debate. It’s an old political debating technique. Bog the uprising down in endless details and circular arguments until they cannot remember what they arguing. The uprising will tend to cool off. It’s a nice tactic and it’s working. But it’s distracting from the truth unfortunately.

But it's burning up valuable interweb capacity. The phone companies here are talking about charging by data transmissions. Maybe they'll get to the point when it costs them some dough.

The only person that jakazz is distracting from the truth is himself.

Dr mas is taking the jerk way too seriously.

But, yes, Mrs Murphy's Oil Soap and Gree007 have oodles of time to distract with no point but to attract attention to themselves and infuriate people with brains.

Anyone else struck by the sort of cult like following of LA? The guy is almost a religious figure to many of his admirers. Sort of a messiah who came back from the dead to conquer the TDF.

I've never really understood this. I love and follow several sports but I can't recall ever seeing the participants as anything more than... well... sport participants. They're excellent at what they do - play sport. But I don't see them as some sort of super humans that deserve any more admiration beyond what they get for being good at their occupation.

But Lance's fans are different. There's a real dedication to this guy that I have a hard time understanding. What is it that causes some of his fans to be so dedicated to this guy?

Berzin you rule. I love bela lugosi. An merikan hero. These eurps who want to destroy our merikan cycling culture do not know the truth. We invented the 6 day bike race. My friend Oscar Juner was a star 6 day rider in the 30s. Rode madison sq. garden etc. Made a good living at it. the eurps copied our merikan race with the tour day france, Giro etc.
Now we have an merikan hero Lance. They want to put him down. Why, I do not know?

Lance lost 3 minutes in the final stage of the Tour of Luxembourg and should not have finished on the podium. After the race ended it was reported that LA had not finished on the podium, but then the gaps on the stage were neutralized. It apparently happened after the results were in. I don't know that we can say LA has found his legs, but possibly some might say that he's found his wallet.

Apparently the pelaton was notified a lap before the finish that the stage would be neutralized and all in the group would get the same time. No riders were ahead at that point. This was the same point they told them the last two laps would not be ridden.

Some apparently attacked to get the stage win (which still matters). Lance apparently soft pedaled in... since the stage was for all purposes over at that point.

If that report is correct, I don't think losing 3 minutes shows much (other then perhaps a lack of pride in not finishing in the main group).

Pretty sure in Gree's case it is something that falls into the "Don't ask, don't tell" area

Well you know his story is kind of inspiring He goes from a bed bound half dead guy in '96 to crushing monsters like Ullrich and Zulle in '99 ('00?). Not many people have lived a life like that. And i'm not a fan of his but jeez, they should make a movie out of that.

Where is that being reported?

In case you have not figured it out yet, the "cult following LA" on this thread do not appear to be fans, yet this thread is kept alive by them. Moose has pegged it correctly -

Moose McKnuckles said:
If there was ever a thread emblematic of an internet fail, this is the one. This is the black hole of threads. The nadir of intellectual pursuit.

But then again, weird things such as "LA being extradited to the US" - (supposedly last week) have been posited on this forum - hey, it could happen. And you could read about it here first!! Unless is it just more rumor/speculation/unsubstantiated reporting from E!online (seriously - one newbie actually quoted E!online as a source for a post!).

Then again, you could look at any further posts in this thread as SSDD.
