There are too many sticky threads. With so many, they start to get ignored, or only seen by a few people following them - like normal threads that don't need to be stuck. Thus, I'm going to try to be a little more assertive and I'm thinking of nixing the "Think Before You Post" tread, and replacing it with a general forum rules and posting that in the General forum, then referring people to it when they break the rules. I'm probably going to unstick the "Transfers and Young Guns" thread as well.

If this thread starts to drop far down, or off the first page, and bringing it back up doesn't work often enough, I'll consider making it a sticky again.

The general news thread serves little purpose.

The general news thread was because people come on a post non-stories about Armstrong all the time. It stops the forum getting clogged up with crap.

Bad move. This thread serves as a lightning rod, attracting a large part of the Armstrong strife. Now it will strike the regular threads. Didn't anyone learn anything from the last time the Armstrong thread was locked.

The armstrong crap feeds itself over to other threads all the time even with this thread (tho I think this thread should stay open)...alot of it is from the usual fervant anti egostrong folks...as well as the pro uniballer nuts starting it...seems to me it is seeping into alot of the other threads anyhow...e.g. discussing Ricco leaving his girlfriend, here come the anti armstrong brigade saying "well, it is nothing like as bad as lance ect" and the pro armstrong balls washers swooshing in to defending him...or vice versus on which side got it rolling over something that is being discussed should be entirely other...it is endless...one thing I will say here: for a washed out retired guy who shouldnt be around any longer (and I can't stand the guy) he sure has gotten into some folks panties way too much and seems to pretty much drive a large portion of their thoughts on both sides...so if this thread keeps that crap down, please keep it...

Oh, B.S. Compared to those who continue to lie to the public about their dope use Ricco is nothing. At least he got caught. At least people can pretend that the "bad" guys are not getting away with it. Let's not even bring that megatool Armstrong and all the damage he has done to cycling into the picture. What about Valverde? He continues to race and win despite incontrovertible evidence of guilt. Talk about a giant FU to the sport and the fans.

Your overall point - that Lance gets in to too many threads is certainly true, but in the Ricco thread many others were mentioned too, including, Basso, Rasmussen, Vino, Valverde, Contador.

Unfortunately LA's past and status means that he works his way in to a lot of discussions, and for as long as he remains in the sport he will continue to do so - unfortunately we just have to accept that.

maybe a lance-free zone, anyone posting anything ANYTHING at all about him will be temporarily banned. 1st a few hours, then a couple days.

Can you ban someone from posting to a particular thread but allow free rein anywhere else?

Your overall point - that Lance gets in to too many threads is certainly true, but in the Ricco thread many others were mentioned too, including, Basso, Rasmussen, Vino, Valverde, Contador.

Unfortunately LA's past and status means that he works his way in to a lot of discussions, and for as long as he remains in the sport he will continue to do so - unfortunately we just have to accept that.

No, no - you are right,he does get brought in to more threads than most other names.
It usually isn't a problem until it goes in to a "no he didn't, yes he did" back and forth that can derail other - sometimes, very good- threads. And I admit I have been involved in quite a few petty squabbles myself!

Probably the best way to curb this is to remind posters that there are plenty of LA threads - here and in the Clinic - if a back and forth continues.

Doc...you are right of course...I too have been involved...seemingly against my will but of course it was up to me being involved with such petty crap...and yet there I was....screaming against the wave...and sometimes they are good and great points do sometimes come out...my only real point is that it is not just the trolls who lick on the uniball, it is the folks who dont like him as well become odd sorts of trolls...me too...we bite...even on other levels...and it goes to weird levels...I have said sometimes "why bring egostorm into this"? and gotten attacked from the anti ballstrong side...it just gets weary...the height of it the other day was I was published on the forum on on thoughtforfoods ignore list with sprocket, carboncrank, prodigy ect and all of his nondeplumes as being an armstrong defender...all folks on there as same person...or "90 percent " anyhow...because I tried to talk about certain things and got a little annoyed how it got taken over by ballstrong haters...I would only say to all these folks go back into my profile and read all my entries...at this point I think the trolls go both ways: the ballstrong lovers and equally, the ballstrong haters when they get outta hand as well...of course, I see how the lovers are the ones who start it...but the haters really have this guy up in their panties...way too much...

maybe the point is that I am listed on the list and not THAT guy...the guy the whole thread was discussing as sending insane emails...threatening lives ect ...thoughtfor can not like me or my comments and to be honest I could give a ****...but at certain points it becomes one giant **** scrum...easy to call pro armstrong guys trolls...little harder to label the furious anti ball lickers trolls at the same time...either way, lots of derailing...via thoughts list, maybe 4 pages of discussion of said list? Actually he is there - CarbonCrank was the new identity of Jackhammer111 - and Jackhammers acccount was deleted, which is probably why his name doesn't appear in the ignore list.

I can't remember the thread or the context anymore (this early onset alzheimers is a bitch. But I do remember watching TFF and Cash get in to their little tiff. It was like watching a slow motion train wreck, it just kept on piling up. I wanted to shout "mommy and daddy are fighting again" but wasn't sure who was which.

Edit: I don't think anyone is accusing Cash of having anything to do with BPC etal.

Just because Cash is on TFF's ignore list doesn't mean he is an asshole. TFF is probably one of my favorite posters and a generally agree with most of what he posts but you gotta admit he can fly off the handle at the slightest provocation sometimes, and I think he did with cash. You don't need to take TFF's side he can handle that pretty well on his own. In this case as I recall he was at least "co-wrong".
Speedway probably wasn't there just because he only posts about twice a week. Personally I find Wonderlance to be funny as hell.
