Sun Mar 14 2010 18:02:55 Armstrong talks to ITN + VIDEO

Armstrong plays down Tour De France hopes

http://itn.co.uk/4f6c075d52907983a39cadebfab1eb5d.html

Armstrong, speaking to journalists after visiting cancer patients in Cape Town.

The American was more upbeat when it came to his new team's chances saying,
"we have four riders that have finished top five in the Tour in the past, several of them have finished on the podium so we have a good shot."
:p

we saw Levi at the Giro last year Kloden will be holing LAs hand on the climbs and Horner will crash out

Noticed how he talked up the Contador rivalry to keep his stock high before the TDU? Picked up his payment threw a few more digs into Alberto picked up a pay cheque for Amstal and the charity ride in Cape Town and now no more race organisers are willing to stump up the price he resigns himself to the truth.....

....however I suspect that he'll keep talking up Kloden and Levi as Tour winners so when they ride the entire Tour on the front of the peloton at record speeds not too many questions will get asked.....

CN actually reports that Armstrong is ninth place in a charity ride. Freakin' hilarious. What's next? He beats a few freds he met on the road in a sprint to a mile marker during a training ride?

Contador is doing everything to prepare for this year's Tour. Radio Shack look like garbage. The Classics are a month away and Armstrong has done what, exactly? And the races he's done he's looked mediocre, bloated (just like last year), tired and old.

It's a psych ploy to convince all the other teams that RS is impotent while in fact they are glass-cranking their way through the early season and will suddenly be "there" in July. So far the first part is going to plan... we are all convinced that they are garbage :D:D Part 2 will leave them with a mountain to climb :p

Just got a text from a friend. He said slow the video down to the point that Armstrong is pouring the water into his glass. Take a look at his arm... look closely at his upper arm and his vein - are they track marks?

He needed to hit a pipe after finishing 9th on that charity ride?

As the Fat Fred self-appointed spokesperson, I heartily say, "Bring it on, Old Man!"

LA certainly isn't on the Wiggo diet of losing weight to climb better. Dude looks heavier every time he's photographed.

But he looks so trim in the new Michelob Ultra commercial. Do you think they touched that up? Maybe they filmed it right after last year's commercial...

I think he may have borrowed Captain Kirk's girdle.

Does he really look that much worse than last year? up to this stage last year he managed 7th in the tour of california. Which is where he ended up in murcia. About the same I'd think.

No you can all tell me how fat he is and how is going nowhere near as well as Contador and how he'll finish out of the top 20.

Come on, he's the same as last year and with team support and without breaking a collarbone, surely the expectation should be similar to last year. Why not?

I didn't expect more, but Armstrong and his press
team, along with many in the press and on thes forums, sold a lot wolf tickets. Armstrong lists his weight as 71 kgs at the Team Radio Shack site
He and Bruyneel have talked incessantly about how much stronger he will be this year and how much fitter he is compared to last year at this time. And I was personally told by many of his supporters that he would be stronger and a podium at this year's Tour was likely.
