There are now about 20 pages primarily discussing Lance's weight. That's a bit ridiculous. Especially since the majority of people discussing it can't stand the guy  Doesn't make much sense to me. I mean, I don't really care for Tom Boonen or Filippo Pozzato, and how often have I talked about either one of those guys? Maybe it's time you moved on...

You are right about this; I think the reason people are fascinated by it is because it's really unprecented - Lance is a guy who was known for an extraordinary dedication to his training, weighing his food, never cutting any corners, etc. So for him to show up literally fat is just kind of a massive WTF moment. Even folks like me who are no longer fans of him are pretty shocked by this.

I'm not saying you should not be allowed to troll about this. As ImmaculateKadence points out, there is about 20 pages of trolling on LA's weight already. I'm not against your right to have fun. But don't pretend to be shocked by it. In reality there is no evidence that he is any bigger than at this time last year, as even the picture from the Giro shows.

Its more than that.

Lance the man was one always to question others who may not be as dedicated as himself. He was forever questioning Jan for his bulging waistline and lack of professionalism. In fact Armstrong sold millions of books off the back that he weighed his food and wouldn't even look at anything that might add some weight. Of course he was full of s1it but it still leaves him open to have it thrown right back at him. Lance is fat and I'm lovin it!

...which is your motivation for pretending he is fat.

I'm serious, '99-'01 I was a fanboy. The Pantani fight in '02 is when I became a Hater.

I took it that he was mocking your usage of the word "even". If he wasn't, I will. If you're not a fan then of course you're going to be "shocked" by everything he does.

Going back to this wonderful issue. I've seen a couple more pictures of LA down the years, and I've noticed he has a more cylinder shaped torso than other riders. If you look at his chest it's puffed out. I think it's more to do with the shape of his rib cage. From a side angle you get a false impression of his shape - it looks wider than it really is - because of this more cylinder torso.

Perhaps if LA had failed to win one of those 7 tours then people would have noticed this sooner. But he didn't, so jan ullrich got called the fat guy.

Well, I think a lot of people have listened to a lot of BS from the Lance camp for over 10 years now and grew tired of it a long time ago, unfortunately he seems to be in the media even more since he returned than when he was actually winning races.

Having endured it for so long I think a lot of people are just looking to return the BS with interest. I dont have to listen to Liggett/Sherwan/Roll but judging by others comments, it would be incredily hard not to root for somebody else after listening to them. I would still question the real reason for the comeback, was it really to promote cancer or just pure ego.

A lot of people dont like Contador and personally I dont see a single reason to dislike him other than his possible doping or the fact he is really good. The only reason dont like him is because he beat Lance and is being badmouthed by the Lance crowd which is petty in the extreme.

I think this whole comeback has seriously dented his reputation in a lot of cycling fans eyes judging by the amount of former Lance fans who were not impressed with his antics last year.

I agree with part of this, he will lose the extra weight before July with some help but at his age, getting fitness back is harder and harder so he won't have the power he had 5 years ago - well unless Ferrari has something new under the hood that is.

And it also becomes harder to lose weight, period, as one grows older :(

A little OT: How many times can Hog/LA change his position and how much is there to it, really? You would think that a 38 year old has found his position long before - especially since they have worked on this a lot before (or so they claim)...

Weeelll, now they have to find a position where his gut don't hang on the frame or get bumped by his knees...:D

I think this is Jonathan Vaughters revenge.

He sent Allen Lim to TRS.

Lance- "Hey Allen, are you sure these chocolate and cream supersized ricecakes are the same as you used with Bradley last year?".

I'm feeling really uncomfortable because I look at the photos of Armstrong and I'm carrying at least as much weight.

So thanks - you've kickstarted my training programme by accident.

Works for me.

Betsy Andreu probably has way too much class for this, but I'd love it if she sent Lance a year's membership to Curves. :D

And to think that Lance ever harped on Greg for being fat/out of shape/ having gained weight. Anyone remember those comments by him about Greg?
And no, I don't think his highness is fat; he's definitely bigger than usual, however. Then again, remember the back cover of From Lance to Landis?

I had no idea Armstrong was still talking trash about Contador. I thought the Wheel Gate thing shut him up. But he's repeating a lot of the stuff from that horrible Het Nieuwsblad interview - the one where...I won't help perpetuate it. Anyway, I saw the entourage quote by Graham Watson, happened across this, and realized there are people who should know better who still believe what he says. All those months of Lance and Bruyneel slinging mud, and Contador giving no importance to what they said, if he even heard about it, but LA blames Alberto's entourage for most of the friction between them. And people just print it without question.

Armstrong compared his younger Spanish teammate to himself. With regards to the apparent friction between the two of them though, the American sees much of the problem with the advice that Contador is being given.

“Alberto is a nervous person,” he said, “which is not bad. I am too. We always think we have to do more, work harder, be better. All the great champions are like that; everyone has a little bit of insecurity in life and have to compensate. I said nervous, but that is not meant as something negative.

“And the rest I do not think is from Alberto,” he continued, “but the people around him. If you ask anyone else who has been in contact with that group. It is the first time that I say this: be careful with his entourage.

“But anyway, I had fun during the Tour.
