Hi, All,
I feel a bit sick after reading all the above negative comments re Lance Armstrong and Drugs.
The guy you are knocking went through the Wringer with Cancer and came out of it with more Knowledge and Capability to know his own Strengths and Weaknesses and he has used this to build on his already capable mindset to achieve an outstanding ability to excel at the elite level of Cycling.
I suggest you accusers stop and take a good look at yourselves and study what Lance has done to get where he is , he is not going to reveal his secrets but you might just get to work them out for yourself if you look hard enough
Think about it
Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian, I am sure we'll all get right on that. I've been looking at myself often lately and have been studying what Lance has done. I can tell for sure that I don't possess his, or his close associates, ability to conspire to commit this very particular form of fraud, where his Cancer is on the centerplate for consumption. For that, I am thankful.

Now whether he has the Strength to handle this Wringer in the same way as his Cancer, and defeats it, my money says he used up his good graces with a higher power on the former. If it was his Weakness that gave him up to barter for pleasure and success in this life, and in return he must burn in eternal fires somewhere a wee bit South, I won't be colored surprised.

Best Regards,

Colm.

yes, do tell TeamSkyFans

It should be no surprise that 4 riders under Charmichel on the US national team the same time as Armstrong came down with Testicular cancer or autoimmune diseases with a strong correlation to Cortisone abuse.

It should also not be a surprise that Armstrong's cancer spread so rapidly as he was, by his own admission, using HGH and Testosterone at the time. As cellular multipliers they are like pouring gasoline on a fire.

Did cancer become a proper noun after Lance "defeated" it?

Just rereading a quote by French Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot.

On the topic of Lance Armstrong attending the 2010 Tour, she explains: "If he decides to come, and this is by no means certain, Mr. Armstrong will have to submit himself to all anti-doping," said Bachelot.

That seems to me to be an odd characterization. Maybe she is not into cycling, or does not recognize the central position in sports marketing that Le Tour occupies? It is a strange way to preface the obvious part about him submitting himself to all controls, wouldn't you agree?

SpartacusRox - I take exception with your comments that appear to be singling out people without a legal background who are "armchair lawyering".

"Armchair lawyering" is not limited to such people. The other group of people I am thinking about are lawyers, and as far as armchair lawyering, they truly suck at it. It continually amazes me that most in the legal profession know that without reading, understanding, and cross correlating a huge amount of documents and depositions associated with a case there is no way to understand, much less predict, the outcome of a case.

But in informal circumstances, such speculations and predictions abound. So they really are no worse than those here who are doing the same with a bare minimum (or total lack) of verified facts.

Off topic.
There are some excellent lawyers that I have known, let me say that first. But I deal with lawyers daily, and they (many but not all) are some of the stupidest people I have ever encountered. How they get clients is a mystery, but these clients are really ill-served by the ones I am talking about.

I am not talking about them being dumb lawyers. They would be dumb as garbage men.

Not to mention a complete waste of a Madone. He should have given it to Floyd instead.

As full disclaimer, I have no vested interest in any potential outcome. I appreciated Lance for his racing style. I am more intrigued with the legal issues present and have the majority of this on good information. Patience.

I imagine significant details will burst this week. The appetite for destruction of a media/cultural demi-god is not easily sated. Gotta keep throwing some chum in the water or the public sharks will disperse.

Colm - How you seeing the omission of Radioshack form the Vuelta in relation to the on-going investigations? (http://af.reuters.com/article/sportsNews/idAFJOE65D0KN20100614).

From memory ASO have a majority stake in Unipublic.

Well, isn't that the twist?

I don't recall Lance holding a rider protest over safety in the Vuelta last year, or even being in the Vuelta, do you? In fact, this is a heavy item. RS is a Pro Tour team, and their entry is supposed to be assured. They certainly have riders of enough competitive quality, so this is not like the Tour of California holding out the Bahati team. Horner won the Basque Tour.

I wonder where the UCI will come out on this?

I also don't see a twitter revelation that Johan informed them back in February the would not be coming. In fact, Gallopin says their application was not accepted... wow.

....puzzling.

Doesn't matter whether they are in Pro Tour or not. Only 18 teams who signed an agreement with the organizers in 2008 have their participation guaranteed. Nobody else.

What and Radioshack couldn’t make the next 6?

Something is up.

Andalucia - Cajasur
Cervelo Test Team
Garmin - Transitions
Sky Professional Cycling Team
Team Katusha
Xacobeo Galicia.

Libertine S. explained in other thread why Andalucia was invited.

Cervelo has their sprinters and Sastre (maybe) wills start the race.

Garmin has Farrar, Hesjedal (stage winners last year), Tommy D.

Sky...Don't know why they were invited. Though maybe Lovkvist can try and go for overall.

Katusha has Rodriguez who has reasonable chances of winning or at least making the podium.

Xacobeo has Mosquera. More than enough.

So, there is some logic in the RS non-invitation.
