@ deagol, to be honest I don't think this is a troll, but an uninformed american fan who does not really now that many cyclist beyond LA, and still believes in the myth. What I gather from other threads is that he wants to inform himself more about cycling and get to know more about, and watch more races, so unlike many other new members I'm currently giving this one the benefit of the doubt

You could be right here, but I have become a bit jaded after the 80th time BPC was banned and then came back with a new name and started a ridiculous thread about Lance. BPC also used a strategy of linking himself with different locations to attain the illusion that it wasn’t the same poster. But, I admit maybe I’m wrong. I see that latest admitted incarnation of BPC taking on a nastier more hostile defensive tone than this one. Seems like it could be quite a feat of multi-tasking to keep all your personalities properly linked to your various corresponding user names- not impossible, mind you, but still a pain.

I wouldnt mind seeing hope ride there and winning. He could still make history by being the first American to win. Id love to see him ***** slap Contador in the race by zooming past him during Stages 14-16. The only problem is I dont see a Team Radio Shack anywhere listed in the race

BUt Seattle, might I ask you what races you normally watch/enjoy and what kind of riders you enjoy, we might than be able to point you to some races and riders which you could follow. An djust don't mention Armstrong on this forum, that way you don't get such harsh criticism

Post Tour Planet Armstrong interview on Eurosport:
"I won't race another Tour, or again in Europe."

He left the door open on Gila and possibly Cali, but added that he would have to have the requisite fitness levels.

He also made a dead pan comment about what trouble he could get into back home............

I think he has finally gone for good.

since most of you think im a misguided Lance fanboy. What is it about him that isnt true or not well intentioned.

Also I think you mainly like the General classifaction which kinda already takes out HTC, Lampre, Footon, Caisse (at the moment), FDJ, Milram and Quickstep (at the moment) and perhaps Katusha (at the moment) of the pro tour teams. This leaves us with Liquigas, Euskaltel, AG2R (included here, mainly cause I like Nicolas Roche) Astana, Lotto Rabobank, Saxobank, Garmin (perhaps), sky radioshack and Cervelo

Another question: would you rather follow American, or english-speaking riders, or does that not really concern you?

Jan would of found a way to lose, Kloden, Basso, Sastre, Periro would of probably eeked out 1 or 2 if there was no Lance

Well Jan won 1. He'd only need 4 of Lance's 7 victories to get to 5. Basso would have likely gotten a few at the end of Lance's run. Klöden's one who always seems to screw up, but I could see him winning one (like '04). Pereiro and Sastre should be happy with the one they each got.

With the TDF I only tune in for the individual time trials, and the mountain stages with the high classifications. Really not a fan of the sprinters and sprints. I love the way mountain stages really finds out the field of riders, and separates the best from the rest.

You'll love the vuelta and the giro than.

Might I than advise Rabobank, a squad with quite a few decent to good young climbers who really can improve over time and they'll stay at rabobank, most of them at least, so you don't really need to follow the transfers that much (allright this is a bit of dutch pride, this advise. Perhaps best not taken completely serious)
But other good big climbing squads are Liquigas, Astana and Euskaltel, although these three aren't that good in all the classics.

It would be nice it were an American, but as as long as they are good and good for the sport Im open.

I’m no expert on this one, but the whole heart size thing comes to mind. I’m sure someone with more knowledge of the specifics could chime in. I’ve also heard to post-cancer weight loss was not really what was claimed to be. The “never tested positive” claim also is false (corticoid? And EPO in 1999, although the EPO positive didn’t happen in the standard protocol, so it was never used to sanction). I have also heard that the “most tested athlete” thing is also not true.
As an aside (and personal opinion) I would say that claim that he is truly “fighting for cancer victims” is the biggest myth of all. I see that campaign as a PR stunt and a shield. Riding a bike in a race has nothing to do with helping cancer patients. It’s not like cancer is some conscious entity that hangs out watching bike races and when Lance wins one, cancer says “shucks, I’m losing”. Lance has gained saint-status in the minds of some and that alone should show those paying attention the real pay-off for him. I have seen the effect of this on a cancer victim close to me and do acknowledge that a “hero” can have a placebo effect in the mind of someone going through this. However, the real heroes I have seen up close and personal in the real fight against cancer are the nurses, doctors, and behind-the-scenes researchers in the labs (I listed nurses first on purpose, by the way). The bike racing might be a nice distraction, but in reality the real fight against cancer happens in hospital rooms and laboratories.

RE: the rest of the “myth”, I wish someone with more knowledge of the specifics could chime in.
