It's commonly accepted among insiders that the moment Kelderman becomes pro we will forget all about Sagan, Gesink, Hagen, Rolland and other Taaramae's of this world. As Kelderman easily has more talent in his left toe then all others.
Dekker_Tifosi, you should remove the Merckx reference. By now Kelderman has demonstrated his true talent which truth be told is not even close to Merckx and of course nobody has forgotten about Sagan as yet. Maybe the new someone else :p

I think you're right. He's a long way from ever being as good as Axel.

I do sometimes wonder if people knew we were obviously joking at the time. None of the opening posts were meant seriously.

Btw, seems Kelderman has made a silly mistake as well. The team advised him to take a 34 inner ring for the Rettenbach
Kelderman ignored that and took a 39 inner ring. Tbh that's really a dumb way too blow everything.

He doesnt come across as very bright anyway. They should just force him to listen to his team from now on.

Every time a Dutch rider gets a jersey, its written in the stars what will happen. Seems its no different from Kelderman. I sometimes wonder if it has something to do with the immense Dutch hype from the public and journalists or they just aren't better.

Nothing against Wilco, I became a fan in 2014, back then he was still fun to watch, but that's just stupid.
The team knew the climb from last year and the guy ignored their advise, he only has to blame himself.

How would listening to the Lotto DS's be an improvement?

Good point. Good ITT today anyway. But with his consistency it's going to be hard to do anything more than 12th or something in the TDF...

Crashes too much. Today was not his fault of course but the amount of crashes and the way he keeps wasting GC leads are leading me to believe he just cracks under pressure

Still harsch to blame that on him today.

This was bad luck. And a shame, because it would've been a good indicator to see where he would end up today and tomorrow, he seemed fit and in good shape.

Now we'll never know. Obviously he is covered in scraps and bruises and will be nowhere near top anymore. Gone is the indicator

No need to be defeatist, Yates had worse yesterday and was fine today.

No there is no comparison. You have riders who's body recover well from injury and aren't hampered as much.

And you have riders who, as soon as they've had a hard fall, are nowhere anymore. Kelderman falls in that category. Same as f.e Gesink. One hard fall and they are gone. Body puts too much energy into recovery mode.

He didn't look particularly banged up. despite his faceplant. And he got back to the leaders quickly. I realise that our Dutch friends have had many reasons to expect the worst to happen, but I wouldn't write him off yet.

He got road rash all over his body, but more importantly mentally a wreck.

He's allready not the most self confident person, but he can't handle stuff like this very well. That's for sure.

"Why does this happen to me again" is one of the things he says.

Everybody is different so that's fine, but it's not a great mentality for a top cyclist.

He needs a long and hard conversation with a Steven Kruiswijk or a Nibali. Stevie knows how to ride a good GC after losing time in de 1st week of a GT. Nibali knows how to win a GT after losing a little time over and over during a GT. Sure it's a physical sport but it is also a mental one. Wilco needs to get stronger mentally. His losing the GC in Switserland and Pais Vasco is most likely a mental issue imho.

Yep. In PV and TdSuisse he looked strong.. until he took the lead. Seems to have some sort of mental block. I wonder if LottoNL have any sort of mental coaches. Probably not.

I would guess that some Dutch cycling fans have occasionally suspected that they have "mental coaches" in the other meaning of the phrase.
