sure looks happy that his leader won the race
Poels himself said that he had the freedom given by Froome to go for the stage. Says a lot about his personality (or severe lack thereof) that he didn't. Just another brainwashed rider who's fine with being marginal, just like Nieve earlier.

So, will Poels lead the Giro next year? Or is Geraint Thomas going to try again?
Moscon will be the leader :D

Or Kwiatkowski or De la Cruz or Bernal or .... damn, Sky has a lot of options.

The best bit is it's going to be the one you don't expect.

My monies on Puccio.

How about some British track rider? Owain Doull can surely learn how to climb...

Poels is nothing more than a domestique. That's what he chose for, he has no winner's mentality, money is more important to him. He will end up rich, but not many people are going to remember him after he retires.

He has a monument.

So? So has Goss, Zaugg and that other Aussie that won Roubaix last year (see, I already forgot his name).

Doesn't mean that much on its own. Flanders has last ten years been won by some small riders that have already been forgotten outside of Belgium. Same for the other monuments with Goss, Zaug and others like Pisti stated.

Maybe he doesn't want to be a captain. At Sky if he has a bad day or two it's not a big deal, if he was the designated leader it would be a disaster for his team.

Not everybody can deal with the responsibility of people depending on you to absolutely perform.

Well he did just record his first GT top 10, so maybe he's becoming more consistent and worthy of being a leader.
