the part between the hills is dryer, its "protected" by the mountain range.. the part witch is near the coast still wet... not too windy
the 1st descent is the one that can be problematic, specially in those bikes but its just 2(narrow) turns..

Talk of Dan Craven I'm sure he rode the men's road race at the commonwealth games, and we had crazy rain that(shocking in Scotland) and at the end of the race Dan Craven had a 1000 yard stare sort of look on his face.
