late reply i know but tbh i don't know the answer as i barely ever watch porto playing :p

lolololololololollolol ya right lil'poo'old england :( just so unlukcy :p

because england actually had a better team then portugal back in 2004 and 2006 . . . get real rooney was already your best player in 2004 and he had nothing on ronaldo who wasn't portugal's best player at the time. and if you want to go by if's i can say that portugal only lost in 2004 because of miguel's injury as paulo ferreira isn't half player miguel is.

anyway on a serious note now. has any1 been watching benfica play lately? if not prepare for a surprise next wednesday, if the players aren't affected by the cold and prolly poor state of the field in russia, they will embarrass zenit

To be honest Parrulo, Portugal England 2004 was my favourite game of all time, I remember it like it was yesterday I was so hoping Portugal would win and on a high for a few days after it happened.

But England were the better team and I expected them to win. Portugal werent really threatning until Postiga scored the header. After Rui Costa scored that screamer England came back almost immediately.

They cracked on pens but they were the better team and got unlucky, also had the disallowed goal did they not?

It was because England was so strong that I so wanted Portugal to win.

And besides Portugal lost to Greece:p

Marco van Basten just announced as the new manager for Heerenveen next season. A surprising challenge for him to undertake, imo. At least he'll have some money to spend after Heerenveen's best players get sold (again) this summer.

Why? Are you a Celtic fan?

no, saint mirren supporter... but the old firm are two disgraceful entities, quite embarrassing teams, celtic have been the worse of the two in recent times(with their anti poppy signs at parkhead, and rangers a team who try to capatilise on the bad feeling the orange man marches cause by bringing out an orange away shirt:) but both are very unpleasant teams with a majority of nasty supporters... Rangers are getting what they deserve they have spent many years dodging taxes and spending money they dont have and all the time laughing at everyone else in scotland who struggles to survive, they have this coming and I hope it gets worse for them from here, terrible organisation..

They spent a lot of money in the Advocaat and McLeish era and have been suffering financially since then. The owe something like £50m in taxes. As for the behaviour of the Old Firm i find they are as a bad as each other. You see Neil Lennon putting his hands around his ears walking across the Ibrox pitch. Then you see both sets of fans with their sectarian chants when they play in Europe which costs their clubs in terms of fines from UEFA. I think Craig Whyte regrets big time getting involved in Rangers now.

Even though you are a St Mirren fan this is even bad news for yee. Do you think Sky and ESPN are going to keep investing in the TV rights with only one big team in Scotland? Its the money from that which keeps clubs like St Mirren and all the lesser clubs afloat.

do you think saint mirre get a lot of the tv money? the tv money anyone except rangers or celtic get is peanuts.. It really isnt going to kill any scottish teams except the ones who spend more than they have and lucky for me saint mirren are run by very good people. Whats going to happen to saint mirren? the pennies of tv money we get vanishes, so what we'll still be getting players like kenny maclean or paul mcgowan all these players already run away to england first chance they get so what will be different? we will just pay them a but less for their short time with us... Maybe saints would be able to attrach great foriegners like nigel floyd hasselbaink anymore but I think we'll survive...

Rangers have huge debts because they spent far to much for a long time even before adovcaat and they have the huge tax bill because in those years they were dodging paying the proper tax, its worse than spending more than they had they were cheating the tax payer too!

anyway wheter it is good or bad for scottish football rangers deserve this and I think even more

Mcgowan is good for the spl.. Nigel floyd is sometimes good but I think he has a terrible attitude and the manager doesnt like him anymore, he hardly plays now and he is the laziest player I have ever seen in the pre match warm ups, he is always behind the other players and not making much effort with his stretches, I think unless he changes his head he will be out the door at the end of the season...

Why would you want to sign a team with such a big fat question mark on the manager position. I doubt Harry will be there after summer with his recent comments.

well I dont watch much football outside of scotland anymore so I am just judging from what other people have told me and what I have read in some things, I heard sometimes he can be a bit lazy and thinks he has already made it and hasnt got back to his original great form... but I watch saint mirren so I have no idea :S Nigel floyd hasselbaink scored last night....

Ac milan v arsenal today, might watch it if the internet connection holds up.. It's a good chance for teams like this to win the champions league no manchester united and barca seem to have been on erractic form this year and from the few games I have seen of real I do not trust them to get the job done.

so benfica loses to zenit. . . very poor game overall the benfica players never got used to the field it didn't even look like the same team.

aimar will miss the second game and it is still unknown if rodrigo's injury is bad. still i think benfica should win this one easy on a proper field

Why on earth isn't Oxlade-Chamberlain in the starting XI!? The kid has been astounding lately and Rosicky takes his place, sigh.

Ibra seems to be playing quite well today, one of my favourite players, glad to see him doing well, even though he seems to be the new inzaghi with the amount of offsides he has... and it looks like he was offside for robinhos goal... but it was very close so I tihnk its fair enough then..

Ibra seems unplayable and gooner, sorry man, arsenal are horrendous ..blame cannot just be on the defence for their current problem..any sort of protection from central midfield or any midfield is so bad its untrue.

All i will say is that Van Persie will definitely move in the summer as i dont think he will accept another season of mediocrity.

That's one thing certain. He is too good to be in Arsenal.

Who deals with contract negotiations in that club anyway?... Wasn't Fabregas on his last 1½ year of his contract and forcing a sale to get just something out of him money wise..?

Fabregas`s contract was up in 2015. He signed an 8 year deal back in 2006 and added a further 1 year back in 2009 to make 2015. Ivan Gazidis does the transfer negotiations. Its not his fault. I just think Van Persie is not a fool and he knows that Arsenal are going nowhere and he has lost faith in the whole Arsene Wenger project at Arsenal in the same way Fabregas and Nasri lost faith.

The Arsenal board is i who i blame for giving Wenger too much power and putting too much of a comfort zone around his managerial seat at the Emirates.

As for Kroenke, he is everything i despise in an owner. All he talks about is the marketing side of the game while at the same time he doesnt even attend games. 1 Premiership game and 1 Champions League game is all he has attended this year. They put season tickets up 6% from last season which are the highest season ticket prices in England by a mile but yet we dont see significant investment in the team to match it.

That is wrong and its a disgrace if you ask me.

Without Wenger you would still be playing kick and rush, probably somewhere in League One.

I have miyaichi in football manager(for shaktar) I always forget what is real and what isnt, i remember hearing he was good in holland and I see he has scored today... I like japan so I hope he comes good.

I think we have 2 champions league spots in scotland this year(well in the qualifiers of course) and the interesting thing is if rangers aren't out of administration by the end of march they wont be able to compete in europe next year so I guess the 3rd place team will get the champions league place and it looks like that will be motherwell...... motherwell in champions league who would have thought it :S
