For us not really  Although we still managed to get through the group stages.

We still talk about 'the substitute/change' when Advocaat substituted the best player on the pitch, Arjen Robben.

The whole country thought that Fat Lawyer had gone stark raving mad - didn't he bring on Bosveld?

The final of the Euro U-17 tournament will be played Wed. evening between Holland and England. It should be a cracking game.

My Hammers are apparently trying to persuade Ronald Koeman to replace BFS. I would be more than happy with Ron, 'ja, ok dan'.

I haven't watched any of the U-17s yet but will watch the final. Interesting to have a look at Patrick Roberts who plays with Fulham. Magath rates him highly and has already giving him his Premiership debut.

lol.

I presume that's the same Ukraine agent he had back in his Barca days. I remember Graham Hunter saying at that time one of the reasons Barca allowed him to go was that they didn't like dealing with the agent he had.

He was earning more than Messi and Ronaldo up to recently. This seems a childish attempt to get a new contract on the back of his huge goal return this season.

Guillem Balague says Barca willing to sell Fabregas. Has a 40m buyout clause. I'd say he will be in the Premiership next season. Arsenal have enough in that area so I can't us coming in for him.

For me, he has played well in spells but overall hasn't reached his Arsenal level. A move is probably better off him where he can go into a team and have the keys to the midfield as the main man.

I was all for Cesc going to Barca at the time, but there's no denying that all things considered, he's disappointed. Pique has extended four years to 2019.

Roy Hodgson, the English coach, on Man United:

‘You can organise a pub team not to let in six goals against Manchester United,’ he said. ‘Give me six months and I’d organise them, if they had a half-decent goalkeeper and a couple of centre halves who can get in the way of the ball.’

That bodes well for a serious campaign in Brazil doesn't it?

Just being realistic, we are never going to outplay the likes of Spain or Brazil. If we can get organised and be hard to beat you never know what might happen.

The U-17 final was an entertaining game. Congrats to the England lads who have some good players to watch.

One thing that struck me from the game was Isaiah Brown who played well and made his Premiership debut back at the end of the 2012/2013 season when he was at West Brom. He joined Chelsea later that summer. What is the point of that? He was at a club that was giving him his chance and now goes to one who have done nothing to bring any young talent of their own through the academy. He didn't make one appearance last season since the move which would have probably been in stark contrast if he stayed at West Brom. Look how many players Chelsea had out on loan this season just finished. What hope does he have? I point to Josh McEachran's progress as an example.

I like Roberts with Fulham who has been given his chance already by Magath. Arsenal are heavily linked with him recently but I would advise the lad to stay with Fulham for the forseeable future. Games in the Championship will do more for his development than not even making the bench at one of the big boys.

If I had a son in a similar position to the above, that would be my position. Stay where you are where it's better off with helping your further development. The big boys could throw all the money they want and it wouldn't make a difference. There's no rush with a young player's career especially with the ages of the players that have been mentioned. They'll still get their big move at a later stage if they're good enough but when it happens at that time, they are more rounded players that are nearer to the finished article. It would mean they won't be sitting in reserve football.

The papers tomorrow saying Arsenal will go for Fabregas. I say United will come in once again but I would hope he may come back to London. Hypothetically speaking, how would Arsenal line up if this move happens with all the midfielders there currently? There is a real congestion in this area if he returns.

Just my own feeling but maybe they could move him into Arteta's position to utilise his passing and creativity from a deeper role. When he first came through at Arsenal and played alongside Vieira, Gilberto and even Flamini in his last season before he left for Milan in 2008, he was a midfielder who could do a bit of everything and was more than willing to do his share of defensive work. It was only after Hleb left that Fabregas really got moved in behind the striker at Arsenal. At Barca they went even further by playing as a false No.9 for a period.

I wonder would Wenger try him alongside Ramsey with Ozil ahead of them.

I'd say it's certain he's gone especially after Luis Enrique's comments and respected journalists as well saying it.

Now I didn´t watch any complete soccer game (outside Germany in the EC final tournament 2012) since the cheater World Cup 2010, so I am a little off:

Was there ever a dominant club like Real this year?
Scoring 37-9 goals in the CL, going 10-1 (with one tie).
That´s prorated 105-26 goals, going 88 points over 34 games. Now that would be amazing in any country itself. But going like that vs Europes elite is awesome...

No doubt about, I like Real winning today. The best should prevail, not the lucky one. And the best is Real.

Side note: Who needs overated Mourinho, if you have the best players? That was rhetorical. :D

to be fair real are only the best because of their money. Imagine if the cowboys had a cap of 2 billion and could spend $20 million even on the backup punter, whereas the jags had a cap of $80 mil.

Absolutely agree. That´s one reason why I love NFL football.
And I am sure you agree Mourinho is wayyy overrated. The "special one" couldn´t deliver with the best players around him.

... God, the first soccer match in years, and the same $hit going on. Big foul for sure, but the player down pretends being killed. But indeed correct yellow card for the fouling player. And then the kludge set in. A player just complains a little bit about the fouling team and also gets a yellow. What a farce soccer is....
Anyway, I try to suffer trou the whole game.

Great chance by Bale. Looked good.
Now if soccer would get rid of Blatter and his FIFA gang, the Neanderthals rules, and the refs... it could challenge real football for awesomeness.

Watta sick game...
Player pretending dead, shaving time, ref decides by chance how much overtime will be... going in circles...
The whole game is a mess, and one single action (most of times) decides the outcome.
