What a talent Gerard Deulofeu is for Spain. A class above everyone earlier today in the U-20s World Cup. Brilliant first goal.

He was outstanding as well for the U-19s last summer. I definitely see him making it to the first team at Barca in the near future.

Also nice to see Arsenal's new signing from Auxerre Yaya Sanogo score for France.

One of the best talents Barcelona has. But he's a little selfish, they don't like that. And with Neymar coming, he won't get a lot of chances unfortunately.

Guillem Balague, the Spanish football pundit on Sky Sports(journalist for AS and El Mundo Deportivo) said they have plans for a front three of Neymar, Messi and Deulofeu going forward. There's been rumours of a loan move for next season and then to introduce him after that.

I'm delighted he didn't go to City and now Cavani won't be going there also as De Laurentis said they won't pay the buyout clause.

I know it's early in the transfer window but I can see United dominating once again next season. Thiago will probably sign by all accounts and will transform their midfield if he does come. That was the one area in the United team which needed addressing. Mourinho spoke only about 1 or 2 possible signings this summer. Arsenal will likely wrap up Higuain and have been linked heavily with Fellaini as well. One player I hope they don't sign is Ashley Williams with Swansea. An average defender who's nowhere near good enough for a top 4 club and I don't know where he has got his reputation from.

He was very good against Chelsea in the World Club final last year. I couldn't believe that only a few years back he was in Polish and Lithuanian football. Some rise in recent years.

He said he will decide about Spurs after the Confederations Cup. Good signing if it happens.

He got a lot of stick for that at the time. I think he should have spared the fans the criticism he gave them. The team was after losing to Croatia and were getting hammered at the time by Spain and the fans were trying to turn it into a positive with a good atmosphere like they always do. To be fair he was right when he said he didn't know where many of these Irish players got their reputation from. If you listened to some of the pundits over here you would think some of them were playing at the highest level in Champions League football. From my own point of view I'm not his biggest fan due to the Saipan episode before the World Cup, his tackle on Alfe Inge Haaland, his criticisms of his teammates to United's own TV station and his comments on Clive Clarke, an Irish player he had at Sunderland. Those comments were disgraceful(see here).

From these various situations he is still a very divisive character and it's really split down the middle where you like him or not over here. Frankly speaking even though he's from the same city as me, he's not my cup of tea one bit.

Spain lacked total intensity in their football tonight. Since 2008 and the domination of Spain and Barca, the players have had only one summer totally free from football which was in 2011. They constanly play in the latter stages of the Champions League and in the case of the Barca players they have played in a couple of World Club Championships in Japan as well. It also doesn't help that Spain play friendlies in long distance travels to Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina and Qatar. The Spanish FA have to take the blame here. I know some will say it was only one game but this lack of instensity where we see no pressing from the front like before was there for all to see in the Italy game and creeped ever more evidently into Barca's play in the second part of last season. That has been a big part of their success down the years.

....meanwhile Brasil literally toyed with Spain to obtain the conferederacion's cup in a convincing manner... I'm thinking Spain's reign is declining rapidly & necessary adjustments must be made now since the WC is a year ahead & improvement can take place ....

Short update from my fav club, Borussia Dortmund... expectations were high this transfer season because their pockets were full. Well many names were going around and it took a long time but now the big signings are:

Henrikh Mkhitoryan (Donezk, €25 million)
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (St. Etienne, €13 million)
Sokratis (Bremen, €9 million)

I did not know either player except Sokratis before, but they are heralded as great players. Certainly not the "big name" that many were hoping for, but I think they definitely add to broaden the quality of the team. I think they will sign another young, unknown prospect player.

For a while I was hoping they would get Barcelona's wunderkind Gerard Deulofeo, but they didn't want to lend him and Barcelona didn't want to sell him so the deal fell through.

Delighted to see that Mark Schwarzer has signed for Chelsea. He's an Australian hero and one of my favourite Socceroo's (they really need a new nickname. Although it's better than 'The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars', the nickname of the women's cricket team.), so for him to play for the team I support is brilliant.

Sadly he will waste away the duration of his contract as either second or third choice and won't be making (m)any appearances, but still, it's great news. :D

Deulofeo gone to Everton.

So United have bidded for Fabregas. If Wenger allows him to go there, without exercising the first refusal option Arsenal have, it will be unforgivable.

+ 1 - it makes it easier for me to barrack for Chelsea in the big games now. BTW - a Southampton supporter here :)
