saint mirren :S..... well I think bayern wouldnt be a bad choice the german league is a bit more financially ethical than the other leagues I think teams there need to be running well to get a license for the bundesliga so they dont spend money they dont have... although bayern are just a huge business but at least they are not funded by sugar daddies or the spanish government :S.. bayern is also easy to follow for international fellows and has entertaining players like ribery and robben... although it seems most germans dont like them :S
an english team is probably the easiest one to follow though :S
I think Chelsea are going to win the cl :S and finish outside the top 4 in england... just like liverpool did.. Munich will be hard to beat if they make it to the final seing as it is in munich... With their defence I think they will have a tough time beating real but I hope they can do it.
Yes in Germany there is a rule that one person cannot own more than 49% of the club I believe. The only one that has a sugardaddy like Abramovich and others is Hoffenheim, but at a much smaller scale. Then there is Wolfsburg and Leverkusen who are very closely linked to big companies (VW and Bayer) but again they spend relatively little money compared to other international clubs.
Bayern München has by far the largest budget but it's largely their own merit. They can look back on decades of complete dominance in Germany so they always got by far the biggest sponsors, TV money, prize money... Plus they rarely buy international stars for huge sums, their strategy was always to buy the best German players like Kahn, Effenberg, Ballack and more recently Podolski, Gomez and Neuer. Now it appears this is changing, with Marco Reus chosing Dortmund over them. But those players are very affordable for Bayern. In addition they have a very good group from their own youth like Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Badstuber and Müller.
I am not sure but I think they are the only club at European top level that is not in a lot of debt, even on the contrary, who actually makes money. Of course their budget is much smaller then Chelsea, Madrid, Barcelona etc. and that makes the fact that they can compete at the same level as those teams all the more impressive.
So on an international level I always root for them, and I think it is the same for a lot of Germans. Palmerq said he thinks most Germans don't like them - yes and no. In the Bundesliga, everyone is happy when they lose and when they don't win the title, because most people are bored with their dominance. They also have the reputation of being quite arrogant, which is underlined by their motto "mia san mia" (we are we). But then when it comes to the Champions League most Germans rally behind Munich and support them because they are usually the only German team who can get that far. At least that's my impression!
So I hope they will beat Madrid and I believe they can!
