Being a Zverev fan ensures you some very exciting four hours multiple times a year.

Zverev is a great player to follow for exactly these reasons. There's always drama.

He also has a substantial number of haters who get angsty when he wins as well, so I enjoy their tears, i.e. until he inexplicable collapses of course when he should be winning & it'll be rinse repeat "next slam is the one!" sort of stuff. Until then though, I'll enjoy the ride.

Isn't Zverev also some sort of partner/woman abuser and has some court dates with the Berlin court in the near future?

Isn't he the one who decided to go to court? It seems to me like just another one of those situations in which a celebrity is found guilty on social media long before he's had his day in court.

I'm always careful with that sort of stuff not to pick sides or make a character judgement. The tennis subreddit for example is deliriously anti-Zverev to the point a load of them want him kicked out of Roland Garros & even the sport entirely.

It reeks of 2010's cancel culture.

How incredibly masculine of you.

It's that time of the year, aka we're a month or so away from when I get those manly tears of despair when Rogla crashes out of the TdF or something really sh*tty happens to him & he inevitably loses the Tour again. I am masculinity incarnate. #Jesuismasculin.

In the meantime I'm enjoying some meltdowns amongst the tennis fandoms (like Nadal's last Monday or now from the Zverev haters).

Actually he has the court dates just now. I think his head was in Berlin when he played, and deservedly so.

Has nothing to do with cancel culture, and he only went to court (again) because he was already fined 450.000€ for abuse. I think the allegation is chocking and pushing his former partner. It's not the only accusation that's out there either.

It is interesting, because some believe, that if you have been found guilty of a criminal offence, then you should never work again. The court decision will determine if the ATP takes any action.

Moutet does what he wants with Sinner in the first set for 5 games. Then things get trickier for him and he wins it 6:2. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Well, it is two different ex-girlfriends who independently have explained how he mistreated them.

Just an FYI in this tennis thread, I'm quite a big Jannik Sinner fan. He's as cool as a cucumber.

I respect that.

I missed what Moutet got so pissed about.

Moutet has been 'pissed off' since birth. He's perpetually angry about something.

Personally if there's one thing which really pisses me off it's French public TV (France TV in this instance) randomly switching between matches & leaving the one I was watching to go to another I really don't care about.

People complain about Prime video getting the rights for the night sessions but at least it's full uninterrupted coverage. It's totally worth the few euros a month just for that.

Meanwhile, Ruud took the scenic route to the first set, coming back from 4-0 in the tiebreak.
