RBH tactic at the start of the race was perfect. Put Roglič in break for a potential stage win or gaining time on Onley. Or if Rog blows, helping Lipo bridge on the last climb. You have many options open. Lipo had it simple...just follow Yellow jersey group or if you can't, follow Onley to secure white jersey.

Problems started when Roglič was gaining too much advantage and Lipo couldn't follow yellow jersey group. At that time he had big advantage against Onley, but was loosing time against Roglič. Smart thing would be to drop to Onley group and follow wheels. You have your white jersey saved and RBH said this is priority. But i think Lipo's priority is finishing 3rd or at least before Roglič to prove and get co leadership in this team going forward (sorry Lip, we all know in form Rog smokes your ass even at 36, you even said so in an interview some time ago). So he didn't drop to Onley group and drove like mad to catch Roglič group. He manages to catch it, because Vingo doesn't know what he's doing anyway so that SHOULD be it. Stick to Rog, Onley was behind, even if he would catch you it's all good, you have the advantage on both. Just follow wheels!

But no, he says "my legs are great" and attacks yellow jersey/Roglič group. Later blows. And looses time against everybody.

This one is on Lipowitz and RBH for not talking some senses into him.

Problems started when Jonas decided to bridge and after didn't know what to do, Pogi still being there, and both rather waited for the team. At that point Lipo trying to bridge to front of the race was IMHO a sound decision. Both RBH riders burning themself and working for Jonas and Pogi, that would be stupid and highly likely they would still get caught. Jonas and Pogi would invest exactly 0 effort in pacing.

At that point, it would be a smart decision to stick with the Yellow group and eventually wait for the Onley's group. RBH wouldn't lose any time in GC. The Lipovitz attack on the Loze didn't make any sense at that point.

They did that with Roglič. As for making sense to attack with Lipo or not, at that point he was minutes ahead of the group they waited and Lipo was strong on Col de la Madeleine. He wanted to try, stage win and potentially getting closer to Jonas in GC.

With 25km to go it looked perfect for RBH. Lipo started to make up a lot of time. It even looked like the stage win was possible. Roglic was then caught in the group around Pogi and dropped back to Onley. That was not ideal but okay.

You're always smarter afterwards. Was it brave? Yes, was it also risky? Of course it was.

But you can only win something with your driving style. Now you might be punished. But that's what makes great drivers. That gives you a lot of hope for Lipos future.

Only on the rear wheel is boring. So many people already do that. And even that can go wrong. Take the first mountain stage where Remco fell back. He could have been dropped there. They didn't and then he came back. If you are stronger, you have to use it. The situation can change later.

People complaint about the stupid risky move from RBH but at the same time complaint about the boring wheel sucking style of Roglic.

For me Bora did everything right yesterday tactics wise.

Eisel saying that it is a bit difficult with Roglic on german TV. Roglic wanted to go for the stage and nothing else and they allowed him do to this. He didn't care for place 5 or the white jersey.

Of course. He had the legs.

But when UAE decide to mow the man down because brutes™ reasons, what's to be done?

And no way Rog could just sit on wheels and attack like Arensman because Pog would close him down.

dear me the Roglic's mums on twitter are having a meltdown. they cheering against Lipo, hoped he'd lose the podium

You know, when it's deemed mou's brigade doesn't represent Pog's fanbase I think we can also lay off categorizing the moms for Rogla social media bunch as representative of Rog fans. Don't you think?

I like Lipowitz for what it's worth and I think he did really well to secure his first TdF podium.
