He rode great today

Moscon might be crucial on today's stage. Him and Lampaert will have to do th heavy lifting to keep him safe. So far the former has been really solid overall.
And yet it was Landa and Vervaeke who were with him till the end and nobody else within 10 minutes. From the days of Boonen, Devolder, Pozzato, Terpstra, Stybar, etc to well, .... this. Quickstep went from being the best classics team over 2 decades to being actually in danger when the roads are flat within 2 years. This downfall needs to be studied.

Everyone not on the Evenpoel-wagon after he got visibly mad at Jonas at their conservative approach are fake cycling fans! Slimco will play his part as Vino in 2003 but with better legs in the mountains.
Let's hope today's stage took as much out of his competitors as it did him. Would be a shame to see those who were cowering away and could have been distanced, be the actual winners of this stage.

Entertaining for sure, smart ridning not so much, but he was very strong.
Still think he should ride a bit more conservative and really pick the right moments. Not try to be Pog.
If he does too much and implodes in the 3rd week, the spectacular attacks won't matter that much.

Try to be Pog? This the first year you have watched Evenepoel? He was attacking and going long range when Pogacar was still at his mother's teat.

Love to see Remco riding with passion and chutzpah. I really think he got it right and will be in this, but they haven’t had a single hard mountain stage yet. If he got it right, he could win this Tour. That would be legendary and the most prestigious Tour win in recent history IMO (unless it comes due to crashes/illness). There are also hard stages coming where he could lose big chunks of time like in the 2023 Vuelta. I hope that doesn’t happen.

A lot of energy was spend today. I am sure those chasing to make the GC group had to dig deep as well. It will all accumulate and impact the third week.

Remco did great considering his past results on this terrain. He improved his skills although he definitely spent more energy than Pogacar as can be seen in multiple corners where he lost momentum. It also means he has a lot of energy to spend. I hope he uses it wisely. He should be defensive most of the time and very aggressive when he has an opportunity that suits him.

I of course meant riding like Pog does in Grand Tours, always on attack. Remco should be mindful it's his first tour and that it's very back-heavy.
It’s day 9 and that’s the first actual attack he put in. He’s been pretty smart.

As far as the questions about him being good on gravel, he either got dramatically better somehow or it was in fact, just the legs that were the problem. The latter seems wildly more likely.

I agree he has ridden quite smart so far, but today I saw some stupid moves that made me think he is getting overconfident. I don't mind him attacking if he does it at the right times. The one 80k out? Come on.

I want Remco to succeed in the tour and having a good 3rd week will be absolutely crucial for it to happen. I want him to have patience, save energy and really choose his moments.

Straights were fine, but those corners were abysmal. I’m glad there weren’t any steep downhills with corners like in Strade. He’s too calculated/scared/untechnically in the corners and loses a lot of momentum and energy. He was also just really strong today.

when you have a rider like Remco, you do not focus on your classics team

Plus, Remco is one of the top 3 classics riders in the world. He is the classics team
