loooool so now you are claiming his GT weight is 61-61.5kg after you have been claiming for months that was not feasible for him due to his Indurain metabolism, so you are now agreeing with me that THAT should indeed be the standard for his GT weight. Glad you finally saw the light my man, and glad you finally low key acknowledged you have been talking out the side of your neck previously!

In Valencia, he was clearly overweight (for a pro athlete). But you should remember Valencia started on the 2nd of february, only a month after new year and he simply carried his winter/off-season weight to the first race. Still think i'm "lying"?
That was his beach weight. Now he's on his mountain weight. After the Tour, he will gain weight until he reaches his TT weight for the Olympics.

It is clear that his cornering technique is still poor, on steep, winding descents, on gravel and in the rain. That's why I don't understand why he didn't anticipate. He was often too far in the group entering a gravel section. And when the gravelsection had a sharp turn at the start, he lost another two or three places.
Well, it is you who has been saying criticism towards the team were uncalled for. But this problem they have known for 5 years! He crashed on the gravel on Adriatica Ionica and was completely lost. He crashed in Lombardia. He was pathetic on the gravel stage in the Giro. He still struggles on downhill.

You think the team might have addressed those issues in the past 5 years?

I completely disagree. His gravel riding was "good enough" not to lose time. but that's about all you can say about it. After every corner he had to make up 5 to 10 meters and he has once again wasted a lot of energy needlessly. He is making similar cornering mistakes as he does in the downhill. It's ok for you not to notice, but it pisses me off that the team keeps pretending not to notice. It makes him bleed time (downhill, TT) and waste energy trying to make up for it.
Exactly. He looked like Bambi on ice in some of those sectors.

I think the attack was strong today, in a good place too, he got a bit unlucky at the time that Pogacar didn't call Jumbo's bluff and then it prompted Vingegaard but the idea was right. He will have to play the two against each other if he wants to win but can gain significant time with a Carapaz style move at the right moment. He needs to start laughing off the opponents tactics though, like in Catalunya 2023 it's just how it is, a bit too emotional, it's a waste of his energy.

We have to accept race tactics and race situations, but sometimes you also need the balls to race, and unfortunately maybe Jonas didn't have them today. But it's no problem – the race is still very long, and I totally accept the reasons why he didn't pull, why he didn't race - Remco

You know why im here.

Watched the stage now and this guy doesnt miss. He gonne do his best GT ever like I said me me me and im falling in love with his way of racing. I knew before the Tour part of why I thought he would do his best GT ever was i hoped it aswell but my god have he not missed so far. A bit more technical downhill (stage4) and turns (today) and even better use of his power then. That will come with time.

But nothing but net so far. Love it.

Considering Pog's later attack, when Jorgenson saved Vinge, I would say Vinge made a wise choice not pulling with Pog and Remco because surely he would have get attacked again and without strong doms around Pog might have distanced him with a minute.

Well, it would have been funny had Vingegaard worked when he was with Pog and Jorgenson when Evenepoel was behind. Imho, he/Visma should have. But i also think he should have when they bridged to the front group.

Is it real emotion from Remco or is he just needling Ving to get the latter to eventually make a bad decision out of pride? The twittersphere successfully pressured jumbo into riding for kuss last year...

Vingo did exactly what he needs to do to win. This is not his terrain and his advantage increases as the others attack but gain little. I now think he will win this. absolutely nuts that he is where he is.

having said that - Remco did well. It is really only his first attack and timed just before a rest day, so not bad.

got the feeling pog and remco are looking to be allies of circumstance -- they both know Vingo needs to be distanced.

Remco looks slimco (even in white!), fresh and confident when answering questions after.

still can't get rid of the nagging feeling that it will all come crashing down in one of the high mountain stages. hoping he doesn't try to follow the ETs and choo-choos at his pace. third would be nice and possible (if he manages not to crack).

So many comments about it not being Vingo's terrain but up until today gravel was an enemy of Remco. Made a few mistakes for sure but also had the balls to try and attack.
Was gravel really an enemy of Remco? He sure seemed confident that he could ride well on todays stage. He has recon the stage several times, and since he is one of the best one-day riders in the world, I believe it was resonable to believe he would do good today and that the stage suited him better than Vinge.

He really said that wow haha
It was overall less critical of Vingegaard than the heading suggested. In some ways, I'd be more stung if I was one of his team mates. He was not happy they did not put him in position in a certain part of the race. Hmmm, not a great idea to criticize teammates to the press in the midst of a stage race.
