It's almost impossible to find pictures of Justine Henin without cold sore and she still won a bunch of Grand Slams. Could be a good sign for Remco.
A regular person can have a herpes outbreak with sores but without other symptoms. But perhaps at the elite level it still would have some detrimal effect on performance.
And before anyone accuses me of suggesting Remco is some sexual scoundrel, half the population carries the herpes virus, many of whom don’t know it until tested.

Almost one minute to Roglic in 30 Km.

Roglic is similar to Pogacar en Vinbgegaard in an ITT, except if we talk after several mountain stages...Maybe is today a little bit worse, but not too much.

In normal conditions Vingegaard a little bit better than roglic.

This ITT was after some mountain stages. Remco is not going to put lot of time to then with 100 km of more or less flat ITT, but matbe enough to manege in the mountains and hace some options.

Those 50-60km ITTs cause massive time gaps. The gaps really expand once you go past 40km

And Remco can play some cards in ddifferent situactions in this Tour, but specially in the future.

For instance:

Poggi attack, but this time Vingegaard caucgh early and stop, doesnt colaborate. Or de opossite...we have seen that lot of time. Remco has the level to catch them early or even respond the attack..He can attack after that and if came a flat part, it is not clear, Poggi and Vibngegaard are going to colaborate..maybe yes, but who knows, so Remco will be always a threat, becpuse he is good at everything, but the best of GC riders going faster at the flat. He doesnt use to be fear to attack, so, he is always a factor. With Roglic you know has a good level in all terrains, he is determined, he is a fighter and he is quite regular: He is going to be there and you have to show big level to beat him, but I dont see at him the same danger than with Remco for that reason...the way he caucht the duo on Bolonia, the way he recovered time in just 2 Km of false flat on descent of The Galibier...That make him the difference for him and it is a threat.

I think Red Bull with guys like Pellizzari, Lazkano and Pithie come in would be an improvement when compared with Quick-Step and staying with the Specialized bikes would obviously be an advantage that he won't have in an Ineos for instance.

However I think that the most important thing for Remco now is to focus on racing. Right now, podium is looking like a real possibility for him at the Tour (winning is still a step too far imo) and apart from that, he has two real major events coming up, the Olympics and the World Championships.

I do believe that he is going to do great and possibly even win a gold medal in both the Olympics and Worlds and in Zürich it wouldn't shock me if he actually wins both races. Then in Il Lombardia, he should also be able to challenge for the win, though Pogačar will always be very difficult to beat there. Let's just hope Remco stays healthy and injury free.

Don't worry, racing is and will be his focus. As mentioned before, Remco has signed months ago for another team. Patrick Lefèvre knows about it. I received this input before the spring classics. The only thing I don't know, is which team...

It's one thing to have the contract negotiations be a distraction. That's actually a relatively minor, in house distraction over which the team and Remco would have control.

The larger distraction is the press. There are already the rumors circulating and many articles being written. As it stands, there will be a few ongoing questions which aren't that big a deal, but if someone gets any real info about which team he signed with, it will become a very public, and very uncontrollable distraction.

Well, we don't know because he came out of nowhere, so we have no real frame of reference. Had you put Pogacar or Evenepoel at FDJ in 2019, you could also say the team was doing great because "look at Pogacar/Evenepoel".
It suggests they're not completely hopeless at developing talent. Anyway, the point wasn't that the team is doing great, merely that it is not completely bad either. Personally, I always felt Denk/Bora are a bit of a joke. But that may be because the feeling of second-hand embarrassment is much stronger where your own countrymen are concerned.

I don’t get the Bora diss here…for me they are already a better GC Team then Ineos and with the signings they did, they will be even better in 2025. I really think there will be a Red Bull performance boost due to their performance center, aerodynamic performance experience etc.

I honestly think it’s the only team which makes sense for Remco, mainly because of Spezialized. Remco has a multi year deal with them. The only other WT Team with Spezialized…is RB Bora. Also Roglic just got a two year contract means he runs out of contract at the same time as Remco…and will be 35? 36?

I doubt that Ineos buys Remco out of his contract with Soudal and with Spezialized. In addition they have a multi year with Pinarello…it’s way too much dead money in my eyes.

UAE…will never happen…too many wunderkids and of course Pogi above them all

Visma hates Remco

Lidl? Don’t see a strong GT Team there. Not sure Remco is attracted by them.

Who else ? Bahrain? Ääääh no
Movistar? Nooope

I would be shocked if it is anyone else Red Bull
