What are you trying to say? He makes a valid point to everybody who wants to minimize the level of this year's Vuelta. Pog may not be in his best form and peaking in Lombardia but nobody can deny that Mas is better than ever.

The point is that the never-ending victimhood playing is getting boring very fast. His point isn't valid, and isn't even a point, because the countless hordes of people that want to minimize Mas' quality and form simply don't exist. Remco doesn't need protecting from points very few people are making, if Big Doopie wants to be Robin Hoodie defending Hindley's Giro win seems a much worthier exercise, since that is downplayed much more regularly than anything Remco has done.

The giro or the TdF, what will it be? I wouln't be surprised that in the current economic downturn the sponsors have the last word. The TdF gets about 3.5 billion viewers globally and the giro 'only' 0.8 billion during its 21-day event. The TdF is the most watched sporting event on Earth. So what is most valuable for the sponsors: having rainbow-Remco compete in the TdF (regardless of the outcome) or going fot a potential giro win?
I thought the world cup of soccer got more viewers.

Debatable that anyone’s accomplishments have been questioned or minimized more than Evenepoel’s, and fair enough to downplay Himdley’s win to a point. A GT win is a GT win but that felt more on par with TGH’s Giro win.

Behind a paywall, but Velonews seem to be still flogging the Ineos story

https://www.velonews.com/news/road/...tails-emerge-of-evenepoel-ineos-relationship/
Their source is a Belgian journalist who has a trackrecord spreading lies and fake news when it concerns Evenepoel and has shown time and again he has a personal grudge. The same guy who broke the story about Evenepoel and Vansevenant nearly getting into a fight. Vansevenant when confronted nearly had a heartattack, claiming he had no idea where that story came from (as well as it not making any sense). According to this guy, Evenepoel got off the bike at 200km into last year's WCC and DNF. Which is strange considering he was working for Van Aert into km 240 and finished 62nd. He then wrote a part about Van Aert not wanting to congratulate Evenepoel, and that Evenepoel had to go to Van Aert instead of the other way around. Which is also ***, considering there is footage (which was not shown live) of Van Aert going to Evenepoel when he was still drinking his can of Fanta that he got after he crossed the finishline.

Anyway, this "journalist" made 2 claims in his latest "piece". Evenepoel very much wants to go to Ineos (which he claims won't happen due to legal issues/contracts) and Evenepoel 100% doing the Tour because he doesn't listen to Lefevere and just does what he wants. Funny that a day after his column was published, that there is a video interview with Evenepoel on Sporza hinting very much that he will be going to the Giro. Anyway, that guy is a joke.

If the reference is Froome and Sagan he deserves more than that!

This is the piece in question I presume:

There is more info in the Velonews article than in this journalists article though. So either they have another source, or they were actually in contact with that journalist and he has some more info (or claims to have).

Don't know if anything he claims is correct, but I could see this being true at least:
The Evenepoels found it incomprehensible that Lefevere did not get a single high-level climber/helper for the time being, but did get sprinter Tim Merlier for an awful lot of money.

From this trio Sagan is clearly above others and for a reason. Not lately sadly, but say during the prime of his career, up to 2017 kinda. On the bike, off the bike, on the road, off the road. Very complete package and that way worth every dollar or euro, imho.

I think Evenepoel is fine athlete coming in his very own way atm, dunno if he needs to morph to a rock staresque like Sagan turned (naturally but still very positive way, allways keeping humble side of things). Evenepoel carries himself very nice now hopefully future too, I think sponsors can be happy with that. In this light I see him more like Froome type of athlete, even if it makes many here furious to make comparison like that.

we are on page 497.

he is 22.

whether people like it or not he is clickbait. sponsors love that.

as long as he is healthy, he will be way bigger than sagan. he is even miles ahead of pog in terms of interest/popularity and pog has two TDFs and is arguably the best cyclist on the planet (and appears to be a nice person who wants to put on a show - how much better can it be?). and yet interest in remco dominates and will continue to do so.

He’s literally the opposite of Froome. An actual talent.
