holy crap.

he's gone.

after being by far the most generous in pushing the break. he was gapping them when simply taking a pull. GvA in the break unable to do anything now.

totally flat course.

crazy when you think that he won on top of a 9% mountain climb less than a week ago...

Tour of Swiss will be a real gauge for his future ambitions in World Tour GC . So excited to watch his progress .
And let's be honest , even if he doesn't fulfill the , by now again, sky high expectations , the guy is an absolute pleasure to watch .
Always "making" the race , always trying to find the win . That's what attracts people to races .

Other than GVA I couldn't find big names at the starting list . But who cares , these are the races that Merckx loved to participate in as well . Doing this will only increase his home popularity .

Zdenek Stybar, Oliver Naesen, Greg Van Avermaet, Sep Vanmarcke, Niki Terpstra, Dries Van Gestel, Gianni Vermeersch were the bigger name entrants.

Patrick has said he is much improved since last year, as winning Liege so impressively (unfiortunately in the abscence of Pogacar, but no less for his performance) has already unequivocably revealed. Judging by the difficulty of the parcours and the quality of the field (once made official) in TdS, if Evenepoel does very well there his ambitions for GC success take a significant step forward. Period. Then the Vuelta of course will tell us much more.

He is an absolute freak of nature . I read today that Remco himself considers his current level to be on par or even above that at the time of his crash at Tour of Lombardy .

I dont know ... it feels yet again as if we are on the verge of seeing truly great things from him .
And that he has some realistic ideas about his attributes. He's comfortable enough to ride sensibly which may fulfill your prediction.

I am more afraid of his team in support. Who can support him in the mountains?

My analysis is the GC races this year so far was that his team is not ready for proper GC support in the mountains.
We can hope Cattaneo and Masnada will be going in good form, if at all. Van Wilder should last a whole lot longer than Vansevanent (who even got dropped by Ballerini in the Giro, lol). Serry is a real workhorse who can go far on certain stages, until the penultimate climb. Honoré might as well, like Vervaeke. But the only ones good enough to still be there on the last climb are Cattaneo, Masnada and Van Wilder. But Masnada might not make it with health issues. Cattaneo probably doing the TDF?

Rui Costa won a few of those and that didn't make him a GT contender. We'll have to wait for the Vuelta.
I agree completely. Not only is Suisse not a GT, but comparisons to the performances of other top riders are hard to read. Someone riding Suisse as prep for the Tour is going to be at a different level (still growing their form) than someone like Remco that has Suisse as a major objective. Would love to see him do well there, for the sake of making it an exciting race this year.

How is suisse a major objective for Remco? his objective is the Vuelta which is further away than the tour.
