Agreed. It is 1 year early for giro-tour.
However, Giro/Worlds/Vuelta would just be Contador's Giro/Olympics/Vuelta. Maybe only target the TT like Contador did? Hopefully, he reconsidered the no Vuelta.
Hope the sponsors are not the ones forcing a giro/tour double (if that is what he meant)
The double is a task one should commit to in his prime. Its demands can't be met in a hurry of any sort. There's time for it and it should be patiently awaited. Luckily, modern technology can tell when it is.
The same technology makes programming highly efficient, and I suppose it's consulted before the definite schedule.
We can compare the riders' approaches and notice differences between the generations.
Maybe the progress in training causes them, or the riders' profiles differ, or a multitude of factors unknown to us is considered, anyway it must be more advanced than it was and carefully personalized.
An adequate workload at any point is vital.
The changed calendar makes me unsure which is the best way to skin the cat.
