Remco's fault that he decided to avoid Teddy by not changing his schedule.

We've discussed why Remco is still doing UAE Tour and the conclusion was he must be getting a sizeable appearance fee. On paper nobody, other than those needing to secure a contract, needs to be winning right now (Pog is just playing arround, but I can't see his level increasimg that much for the classics), so I guess going to the Middle East won't affect his season plans. Still, let's hope in the future he stays in Europe and does a proper schedule.

UAE is a world tour event. Those ar ethe races riders like Remco should be doing, not rinky dink races like Pog clowned

Remco said today he's at 85-90% now, based on some tests in training. Better than last month in Argentina.
Wants a stage win and podium in UAE.

Was going over the startlist, I think he is able to ride podium at 85%. At any other race he wouldn’t ride top 5 if his firm was this low.

Not sure how he wins a stage at 85%. Maybe he thinks his team will win the TTT.

Maybe what he says to the press and what he really thinks are two different things, so he is gonna set a realistic target while still playing down expectations a bit. A win overall here is not the most important thing in the world, but he would still probably want to perform better than in his last race. As we know, people will start to talk if everything does not come to plan or if there is a bad performance.

85 % is a meaningless figure. What exactly is it a measure of?
I think it's generally an asspulled number. I don't think they're ever talking about either %of peak W/kg or the the difference between form after winter break compared to peak form.

It's a ballpark figure that means, more or less, I'm not at my best, but I still might be able to pull out the can of whoop-arse (or maybe not).

In any case, I honestly think Yates is so lean and likely perky right now that Remco will get dropped by him on the key stages. So it will depend on how much time is lost to how much time is gained (if indeed that is the case) in the TTT.

I don't think it's prudent to use numbers that don't correspond to a metric. Well, except for referring to qualia in some specific circumstances where that is practical.

85-90%? The most relevant number is the comment PL made in a recent article: 3 kg. He is still 3 kg above his target weight.
If that's the case, then no fireworks from him on the climbs. 3kg is a lot! Adam and Jay are gonna have his number me thinks.

Remco does talk about this. Not exact numbers but he always analyses his data and lets the media know if it was his best or not. So if he says he’s at 85-90% I actually think that’s correct, based on whatever metric he uses and compares it with his Vuelta form.
