True. That's why i don't understand Lefevere. When they notice Evenepoel can not win the Tour or the Vuelta, just make up some story to pull him out of the race, like he did Sunday.

Of course it could. You count from Liege until the end of the Tour de France. But you have to count from the end of the two weeks altitude in june until the end of the Tour de France.

I remember a lot of members of this forum claimed that Evenepoel could not climb (sufficiently) just before the Vuelta. The first part of the Vuelta he was the best climber until he crashed. After a few difficult days when he lost time, he recovered and held up easily.
This Giro, without the two crashes and covid, he would have had at least a minute and a half on Thomas and Roglic at this day. Of course, Evenepoel is not a natural born climber. But at his best, few climbers and GC-riders can stay in his wheel.

Sure. Start the myth. In fact, Remco leaving Giro was the best thing that happened to his cult-like fan base: "he would win it by xxx minutes" and the like.

Just like when the end of the world didn't come in December 31st 1999 at 23h59, cults postpone the end of the world to other date in order to keep their belief intact.

Tell me something: Lefevre is surely a ***, but is this schedule for someone as gifted as Remco? No. Does he know something that we don't?

Vegni doesn't have editorial control over the Gazzetta. And even if he had, the Gazzetta certainly doesn't need orders or even encouragement to write stupidities. Why do a factual analysis when you can start a "polemica" seems to be their motto...

So stop your vicious attacks on Vegni and deal with reality (on planet earth), and with what Vegni actually said. He's responsible for his words, not the words of Bergonzi.

Being ill, having won the TT in those circumstances, leaving the Giro with the leaders jersey.... after winning the Vuelta and the Worlds. But it's all about cult... and cult-like fans ? What a pathetic and frustrated person you are. I would say. Enjoy the boring Giro after Evenepoel left.

Of course there is a direct line between the Gazetta and Vegni. The fact that you deny this fact proves you come from another galaxy. Initially he went along with the orchestrated story of La Gazetta. Later, after being criticised by international press, he was only talking about the communication of the Evenepoel team. He had to admit he was partly responsible for inadequate health measures.

Not sure if he would win, but giving the race now, he would still have 2minutes on the 2nd and 2m02 on the third, ... by the time they hit stage 16 without being under any pressure whutsoever :/. (assuming no illness and no new bad crashe in that period)

Not sure if the following races are indicating of something, still seems enough high level targets:
National champs road/ITT
WC road/ITT
Classica San sebastian
GP Quebec 1 & 2
Il Lombardia

I think preparing for a GT takes a lot of preparation, and i'm assuming its a bit more for Remco compared to others, since he is still figuring out his perfect weight.

Ofcourse using TDS as preparation would be better then tour of britain...
Repeaking for the vuelta would cost Quebec/lombardia and maybe classica. (now that WC is there as well).
Trying the tour would either give an abysmal tour (training) or danger his classica/WC target)

Something we said before, but peaking for the Giro is terrible for your season. You miss the spring classics, you loose the middle of the season and can choose between vuelta or autumn classics.
If you crash or sick, you can only save your season with a vuelta or autumn classics.

Compared to peaking for the tour, you have the spring classics, the tour and the autumn classics / or vuelta.

Roglič attacked Remco both at this Giro and last Vuelta. And both time gained time on Remco. At Catalunya Roglič was ahead from start to finish. I don't know what else he should do. Go on some solo rampage just to make superficial cycling fans happy? But would they be? I imagine then he would be accused of being a show off. So what is the point. Just win the race you participate in and the fans will appreciate it. And the opposition will have some excuse. It's normal outcome.
