So I think we can assume that Remco's descending skills will plummet (plummet ... descending ... oh, never mind) now he's got "The Beautiful Wife Syndrome". The odds of wining the Tour just when up a lot ...

"Evenepoel shared a photo of the couple on his Instagram account and wrote: "Happy birthday to my beautiful wife."
Well, he‘s had the beautiful wife syndrome already, I think there‘s been a consensus about that already.

What syndrome is that?
Certain things are best left unstated, but the narrative goes: "The beautiful woman syndrome (or the most beautiful woman syndrome, as it is sometimes called) will affect most men who pursue gorgeous women. However, most men won't recognize the symptoms of the beautiful woman syndrome (BWS), nor will they know how to effectively deal with it. Result? A man will usually fail to win the heart of the stunning woman, and he may feel somewhat bitter about his lack of success."

Thus no.

If Evenepoel has a chance to win the Tour, he will obviously have to be all in on the final stage TT. It is a tough, hilly, 35k route. He, won't be competitive in the Olympic TT six days later. If he chooses the Giro-Olympics instead, he will have a much greater chance of success.
Olympics TT is...nice, but he needs to be aiming at the Tour next year. It's time to just do it. If he does well in the Olympics, great. But the RR will be a crapshoot, and an ITT gold is just not a huge deal.

I'm hoping he can somehow do the Tour with a little less pressure. I'd like to see him race really aggressively and see where the chips fall.

One another note, I was in Brussels for work this week and the city is plastered with ads of Remco pitching a disgusting looking Pizza Hut flavor, maybe BBQ chicken?

I just got back from Spain and France and Andorra. One of the places in San Sebastian I spoke with people and I was surprised how even th Basque Region loves Remco. A lot of them told they were actually cheering for him instead of Pello Bilbao. The sentiment is that they love an exciting rider and somewhat controversial one, instead of a boring run of the mill rider.
Belgians on holiday you spoke to? :D

Sure....He'd race to win the first of the Olympic events until info told him he wouldn't. Save himself for the next event.
If he races and does well in the Tour he'd still be set even if he didn't make the podium, by the way.
But I was talking about actually winning the Tour and, if that were the case, his level would be so high that he wins Olympics riding the tidal wave.

Do you think so? Remco has expressed his love for the basque region multiple times, he loves San Sebastian and is a World Champion. I can imagine people liking that a lot.
Seriously, the sequence going on holidays, talking to some locals and posting on a forum that you found out that the "whole Basque region" (sic) loves your rider is just sad.

Yeah, going to a location and actually talking to the people there is so much more useless than going on a forum, deliberately misquoting someone (“whole”), putting “sic” next to it to double down on the BS, all because the anecdotes on the ground don’t map to your agenda.

Talk about “cringeworthy”…

I actually went to Moscow, Berlin, London and Paris recently on a holiday and spoke to all citizens there, most of them told me Masnada was their favourite riders, because they prefer a gracious guy who is entertaining and has great racing instincts, over a boring standard guy like roglic. It's nice that by doing domestique work in races like San sebastian fausto let remco have his victories and become the most popular guy in small regions like these . Basque, Belgium, San Juan in Argentina.

Together they are the modern warriors of our sport. Panache, grinta, passion. Daring moves, failures and successes, emotions. Not media PR interviews, but genuine thoughts and assessments. I'm not surprised the Basque fans love remco

I bet that in 2024 the dream of all true cycling fans is Quidckestwp do the Jumbo visma trident, with Masnada win Giro, Remco win le tour and Landa win Vuelta.

Don't be so sad Elos Anjos. Many people in the Basque region like the way Remco rides, whether you like it or not. Step out of your provincialist attitude just a bit....take a deep breath
