I’d agree for climbers, you’ll need to show me the research on persona ce boosts for rouleurs aside from blood value manipulation.
Im really interested to hear what physical advantages there is for climbers that isn't also advantages for rouleurs.

And im pretty sure Remco is trying to be more of a "climber" by the start of the Tour btw.

Aside from the benefits that all riders get from the two weeks of increased HCT levels, it makes sense that climbers who have to race in the mountains would also train in the mountains to prepare. There’s also the other-subforum stuff that also would benefit climbers more.

So then it makes perfect sense for Remco to go to altitude also before the Ardennes without only being a desperate attempt to peak for those races.
Could be, but I wasn’t really talking about Remco, just responding to a comment about altitude camp. But since is the Remco thread I will retire without further comment.

We're now in a Remco with a goatee era. Watch out everyone.

I thought it was common knowledge that the gains from being able to train on boosted HCT levels are in fact long term and do not disappear after return to baseline.
I haven’t seen any research on that aspect, but I really can’t imagine that would be a big benefit compared to the hypoxia boosting HCT. A residual effect like you mention is true about post-steroid use

The principle is exactly the same. It's about the amount and type of training you can do because of it.
Well, I’d be interested to see the evidence. I don’t think they work the same at all. The residual affect from steroids is related to muscle/ strength building due the combination of drugs and heavier workload possible with the anabolics. Whereas at altitude there’s no drug (supposedly) allowing the body to work harder during that time—in fact that’s where the sleep high/train low concept comes in.
But I’m definitely open to hearing if it works otherwise.

Not to ride the Giro though

You are free to believe what you will or won't. Higher HCT enables you to train certain things in a way you otherwise couldn't, and that training is what you take with you. The same way as training behind a moped also still has effect when you are no longer riding behind a moped.

I will be glad to learn more about.

Yeah, the last rides he posted on Strava have a countdown to the Brabantse Pijl so I think it's pretty safe to assume that, as previously communicated and barring any unforeseen circumstances, Brabantse Pijl will be his first race of the season.

...are there any updates on when he will race again?
On Strava he logged a ride saying Comeback D-47. Yesterday there was a ride saying D-40. Counting 39 days from today gets us to 18/04, which is the day of Brabantse Pijl.

Still training in Belgium though, which makes sense since we had a very nice week weather wise. While it was *** in Spain.
