While I’m on the topic of Grand Tours, there’s talk going around the peloton that a former Grand Tour winner who’s about to be taken down for a biological passport irregularities. I can’t say who it is but when the news breaks you’ll know who I’m talking about. You can probably figure it out. It’s a good thing that’s he’s been found out; it shows that the biological passport is doing its job.
Could be Menchov?

None of them are "former" GT winners. Knowing the blog it's a belated confirmation on HWSNBN.

Otherwise it is Scarponi, delayed until after the Giro.

Either way I'm glad they acted swiftly and with transparency.

"you can probably figure it out", someone winning out of nowhere, like J.J. Cobo? Or someone mysteriously withdrawing like Basso?

Also, he implies being in the tour of turkey this year. Just like K. De Kort does :D

Either easy target Menchov or they're finishing the job with Bert in good time for the Tour. The UCI, the Secret Pro: both asshats IMHO.

Probably Denis Menchov. He hasn't raced since March. I doubt anyone about to be popped for doping would be racing at the moment, particularly not if it's "known" in the peloton. So that leaves out Hesjedal, Nibali, Wiggins, Cobo, Scarponi, Di luca, Evans and Garzelli as they're riding the Giro.

So the remaining ones are Basso, Contador, Menchov, Schleck, Cunego and Valverde, and of those I believe the most realistic option is probably Menchov, as he's the only one of those who hasn't raced in a while.

Almost forgot that Menchov's score was "off the charts".

I think Contador is highly unlikely because surely he's super careful about not hitting the markers like that, same for Valverde. Schleck is unlikely because he's done absolutely nothing recently, and Cungeo and Basso could actually be clean.

Menchov does seem most likely at this point. A virtually confirmed doper, highly suspicious blood values in the past, hasn't raced since march, a team that the UCI would love to embarras.

Then again, this is the blood passport, so an anti-climax is most likely, probably Garzelli.

I would say Basso, due to his withdrawal from the Giro. However he did say he would be back next year, would he say that if he was going to be in trouble?

(From the top of my head) Menchov scored 9 in that list leaked by L'Equipe a couple of years ago, and that was higher than the figures given for other GT winners. AC scored 5 in that list. I also recall that Barredo was high on the list and was caught.

Menchov is kind of an anti-climax as his career was over anyway. Also, De Kort said "you can probably figure it out," which rules out riders like Garzelli, IMO.

It all points to Menchov.
