Team marginal transparency - VERSUS - Team Fluorescence army...
Great stuff....
You know.. Team sky are so good at marginal gains -that even the transparency - is marginal...
Porte is definitely on the game this year. Sky have to step up or settle for 2nd/3rd if not. It'll be interesting how much this Tour may regress in the name of cleaner cycling. I personally expect fast ascents and all out mentalness.
All gains![]()

The overwhelming problem for Armstrong came with the realisation amongst fans that everybody he had competed against had been popped and therefore the only logical explanation for him beating them all was the dope.
Therefore if Astana do get busted the question on everyone's lips will be, how does Sky beat a bunch of guys doping unless they are doping themselves?

He once had a far better aneurysm moment than that one....and awesomely enough, it was when he was a guest on the tonight show. July 11th 2006.
Jay Leno asked him something about people claiming he doped. You know, typical staged question to allow him to do a rebuttal and have the audience applaud.......except he tried to go for the convoluted explanation (this was shortly after Ullrich and Basso and others had been implicated in Puerto ) and ended up driving himself into a dead end.
IT. WAS. AWESOME.
(I don't remember the exact lines, so this is paraphrased until the last few words of the first quote...after that it's verbatim)
Armstrong: "I've proven it so many times that you just have to look and think for yourself. If those guys have been caught and it's been shown what they were doing....and I beat those guys........then.............then I..............."
*realizes what he's implying*
*monster pause*
"I.....then....."
Leno, cutting in with a matter-of-fact tone, to save Armstrong: "Hey lance, you never tested positive, right?"
Armstrong: "Never"
*audience cheers*

thehog said:I don't know. I saw Froome destroy Nibali at Romandie. Froome was sick as well.
Why narrow it down to just GT's seeing Froome didn't race the Giro, didn't complete the Tour and Nibali wasn't at the Vuetla.
Previous year Nibali wasn't even at the Tour and rode the Giro which Froome didn't ride.
Awesome strawman by TailWindHome.

I am also weary of the press adding legs to things. Could be that Ferrari appeared at a training camp at which 17 Astana riders were present but people turn that into Ferrari was working with all 17 riders.
Look how many times such stories have proven to be less definitive than what actually was believed. The Blitz raids at the Giro of 01, 60-70 people implicated, how man sanctioned? The Puerto affair, the Mantova affair, more of less all of Lampre linked but how many sanctioned? Some reports had Cunego on the list, other reports had Cunego as one of those who was not involved.
I would imagine that is why many are hesitant to comment on the matter. Better to wait for the full story than jump on newspaper reports that could turn out to be very inaccurate.
TailWindHome said:That's not a strawman.
Hilarously you want to reduce the sample set further from the GTs by which a GT rider is measured to 'Races which Froome won'
The Hitch said:Well they haven't actually sent any of their gt leaders to a gt that Nibali has ridden since he moved to Astana.
But I do heart your comment, because what you are conceding by making it (and not for the first time) is that beating a doper in a gt would indeed be extremely dodgy.
So hopefully you will now explain to us how Bradley Wiggins managed to beat Frank Schleck, Andreas Kloeden and Roman Kreuziger (among others) in 2009![]()

Doping stopped in 2006 so yes only Santiago Perez was doping
Let's wait for the UCI to sort it all out, anytime soon![]()

As I posted out before, Christophe Bassons was part of the Festina investigation.
So lets say the Festina investigation included X number of riders, that would also include the likes of Bassons. See the problem.
Press use misleding headlines to attract readership. The more controversial they can make something, the better it is for them.
