You wait years for a Kyrgyz CT team to come along and then two come along at once!?

The presence of four Russians in one team and 4 Belarusians in the other might have something to do with it.

"I sure picked a bad week to select two Illes Balears riders on my CQ team" as Lloyd Bridges might have said.

The decision (to not be a CT team this year) is not due to sporting reasons or a lack of corporate backing. The project had sponsors, a guaranteed budget, contracted riders and technical staff, and an official presentation scheduled for January 27th.

Circumstances beyond the team's control, linked to institutional commitments that could not be fulfilled within the necessary timeframes , have generated an uncertainty incompatible with the stability required by a professional structure of this level.

Whatever the hell that means. Maybe the good burghers of Parlamento will know bit more.

I guess some of the riders could get a gig in Portugal. Hopefully the two on my CQ team. :p

In layman's terms: Someone dropped the ball.
edit: who comes up with that sort of garbage.

They seem to think that the local government (Illes Balears) have withdrawn their contribution to the budget, or maybe we could read "institutional commitments could not be fulfilled within the necessary timeframes" as them not being able to confirm their contribution in time for the start of the season?

When teams fold, normally it's always for monetary reasons, so it's likely that some cash flow stopped, I guess. But it comes as a bit of a surprise indeed. The team was on Mallorca already, preparing for the start of the season, and flights for the upcoming races were booked as well, according to Spanish press.

They were turning into quite a decent team with a good calendar, so no matter why exactly, it's quite a shame to see them fold. Now Spain is (basically) left without a CT team again.
