During the broadcast of stage 3 Kirby (I think it was him) said he must have seen someone with an American flag when he saluted the crowd ....fairly certain i didn't miss an American flag. LOL

His form is not quite where it was in the spring if he gets outclimbed by Shaw, though. Hopefully he will be able to get better during the race, otherwise his chances to defend the jersey are slim.

My assumption was that he rode like that the Tour because that team was primed to support Carapaz for GC, and then he crashed out in Stage 1. That left EF with shooting for stages and (I guess) dots?

Today was the season-maker for Powless. Congrats!

I haven’t checked the stats but it seems like this is one of the best haul of total wins (today added to those of Jorgenson and McNulty) in a single season by American male riders for quite awhile. Obviously none with the stature of Kuss’s ‘23 Vuelta (or Kristin Faulkner’s gold on the women’s side), but good to see a broader base of U,S. Road success.

I am taking this to mean he is healthy again.
