His form is not quite where it was in the spring if he gets outclimbed by Shaw, though. Hopefully he will be able to get better during the race, otherwise his chances to defend the jersey are slim.

I hope he goes to the Tour with a plan besides riding himself cross-eyed. Maybe lay back and target a few stages.

My assumption was that he rode like that the Tour because that team was primed to support Carapaz for GC, and then he crashed out in Stage 1. That left EF with shooting for stages and (I guess) dots?

Just a few days ago I read that he was not going to ride any stage race this spring after Gran Camino and now he is on official T-A startlist.

Maybe they found a stage race necessary after discovering how abysmal his form was?

I haven’t checked the stats but it seems like this is one of the best haul of total wins (today added to those of Jorgenson and McNulty) in a single season by American male riders for quite awhile. Obviously none with the stature of Kuss’s ‘23 Vuelta (or Kristin Faulkner’s gold on the women’s side), but good to see a broader base of U,S. Road success.

Two wins this month, Piemonte and Japan

He's taken 700 UCI points this October.

I am taking this to mean he is healthy again.
It's a pity it came so late in the year.

petition to rename this the 'Neilson Powless is the new Ian Stannard threat thread' thread.
At least the first post should be edited to contain this image, so it'll show up in the thread thumbnail.
