Low point: when he claimed that he asked his ex-wife if he should make a comeback. I don't buy the drama of that. Yeah, they probably talked about it for 30 seconds, but I doubt that it was the dramatic, life-changing, line-in-the-sand event that he portrayed it as...

Orpah pretty much showed what rubbish that statement was when she reiterated that he told her he couldn't win any of his 7 tours without drugs; and here he was coming back totally clean and what, he wanted to win? Things got worse when he replied that the peloton was very clean when he came back and the playing field was level.

CNN is replaying clips from the first part...great, tonight's episode needs to be purged from the minds of the viewing public.

I'm watching CNN right now. They are talking about LA denying the offer to USADA. Since Tygart talked about it in 60 Minutes, they just can't understand why he denied that. Its so useless, and i don't get it either. Everyone will see that he is still lying. Is he really that much in denial?

The most ridiculous thing of this whole interview is that Lance tried to make us believe he's seen the light and that his jerkish behaviour was all in the past. "That guy" in the 2005 videos was the same guy who was talking to Oprah.

This second part was very disappointing. But hey, when he said he deserved to be allowed to compete, that was priceless.

None of the cnn panel willing to talk up greg lemond. :( Cooper had to change the subject. Come on guys he won with a fricking bullet in his body.

The repeated use of "death sentence" was the one tiny, tiny moment where my human pity briefly flickered - 'cos that f*cked up sociopath genuinely cares more about 'winning' than money, which he has plenty of anyway.

by getting the life ban, Tygart got him, got him where it truly hurts. And that touched my pity button, briefly. His self-identity is to compete, unfairly, and Tygart has destroyed that, at least for now. - I reckon if WADA/USADA offered him TRIs from say 2016 - and immunity from jail - he might sing like a canary...

That he would go to the Denver airport to meet Tygart says a LOT (WSJ story). Pretty amazing. That he wants to compete at all costs, I think we're getting to the real Lance. The guy's a fighter, good or bad. Should've been in the ring. The lifetime ban is unbearable to him, it seems. Like an addict going cold turkey. Ouch!

Bruyneel not mentioned once. Wow. Methinks there was an agreement.

I hope not. Yeah, I said it.

I hope he suffers, hope he feels shame for the rest of his life, hope it eats at him.

But wish him dead? No. I'm better than that, even if he isn't.

That's the hideous irony - Armstrong says no man can win 7 tours clean. But Greg could have - 5 podiums in consecutive races he took part in, and missed his peak with the accident. If luck had favoured him, he could have done 7, genuinely

When Betsy said "for those who want to know more about blood doping, theres a fantastic website you can go to called..." how many expected her to say - cycling news forum - the clinic:D

He clearly lied alot and was very manipulative (but Rome wasn't built in a day, so changes will take yeaaaaars). "Absolutely" is a dead giveaway and he very closely resembled "that guy" when answering Oprah's questions compared with when he was lying through the teeth under oath. The vernacular was the same: "Absolutely!!!", "100 percent!!!"

I thought same when he flung words like absolutely out there. Like Absolutely = "Hello, I'm lying". What I don't get is what would he stand to lose by telling truth about doping after his comeback in 2009-2010? Unless there are sponsors who may want to recoup something.

Yeup! Then on the news they had an expert evaluate his body language from part 1 and state whether his body language indicated he was lying. The expert said it appeared he was not being honest.

Geez as much as I dislike him I wouldn't wish that on anyone. There were glimmers that he is on a path of dealing with his psychological issues. Hopefully he follows through and becomes at least partially whole. Instead of PEDs I hope he is on drugs that will facilitate progress in that area.

when asked if he thought that PEDs had something to do with his cancer, he deflects the question by saying that no doctor had suggested it.
Doesn't that imply that he had mentioned to his doctors that he doped? That could have confirmed Betsy's hospital room story if you account for the right timing.

Didn't hear it, but folks in foxholes tend to pray, and he's being carpet bombed, B-52s, the lot right now. Not a lot of cover for Lance

I think Oprah did provide "some" cover for lance. How much? not sure, but some people are believing him..

Exactly, he is beginning to see himself and doesn't at all like what he sees so he distances himself from 'that' Lance. In therapy he will need to resolve that part of himself with the Lance he sees himself as.

I don't think that was a bad thing. For cycling people this seems incredibly soft, but for the average person who doesn't know a whole lot about the sport, that whole section about his kids just disgusted them far more than anything about the doping.

Make no mistake, Oprah may not be most the most hard hitting of interviewers, but she knows her audience and she is making sure he is being represented as unflatteringly as possible. She can barely contain her contempt and her audience will see that.

A Walsh or Kimmage interview would have been preaching to the choir, only cycling fans would have watched, this is making sure non-cycling fans see exactly what he is. I'm happy to have questions remain unanswered at this time in order for that to happen. :)

I agree with the bolded.

I am satisfied with this interview. Sure, Oprah missed some opportunities, lance lied his nut off, and there were plenty of soft questions tonight. But most importantly his character and personality were revealed.

Any sane human being could spot what a phony he is from this interview. I think a lot of past supporters will think "I've been supporting this guy?"

He will not rise again and he will not be able to infect the sport much longer. Axe the UCI and maybe cycling will be worth watching.

Damage control nothing else, he lost his income, and it´s the only reason he do this make no mistake.

I couldn´t care less about how bad he feels or how sorry he say he is, it´s just another fart in the wind from this xxxxup, only thing he regret is he have to sit there and the fact that he got caught.
