Oprah looked at him with an expression as if he was a disgusting and poisonous insect on her bedroom wall. He will not rise again.

The second part was a huge disappointment. Oprah kept lobbing the fuzzy softballs about family, kids, wife, mother - how did this affect them, as a father how do you explain to your kids that you're a lyin' cheatin' jerk? Boo hoo - that must be hard. No tough questions from her, and he just stammered through any answer that required the slightest bit of introspection or contemplation. The only emotion he truly feels is when he loses money or fan worship.

Am I expecting too much?

I been wondering about exactly what do I want Lance to answer really?

I'm me definitely not a sociopath, ruthless or a bully and when cornered I face the music and accept punishment.

While Lance..... Well let's just say hasn't shown much of that, I think this is as good as it gets, it's not like he's going to change and that change is going to be automatic, whole and full.

Maybe this is a good start.

this interview just proved what i always though about oprah, majorly overrated as an interview as she is too soft

a guy like jon stewart would have crushed armstrong even without insiders knowledge like people like kimmage and walsh have.
you seem to forget this was not addressed to the clinic, or forum fanboys. this was addressed to the general public, including cycling fans. from that standpoint she asked the right questions, though she didn't get all the right answers.

Part 1 was the most telling of this whole act. Part 2 was empty and pointless. Armstrong will be judged solely on Part 1: the fat joke, the lack of contrition, definition of cheating, more lies and denials.

No one gives a rat's a-s-s about his family and loss of 75 million dollar days.

Ears went much redder when talking about his son: blood pressure up, the shame etc. He's real there, no doubt about it.

My completely hunchy guess is that he did promise Kristen to ride clean...almost like a hobby. I half-believed that bit.

But to follow through? that just ain't Lance. My strong suspicion is that he doped 2009/2010 as set out in the USADA...but that it was considerably dialled back from his peak - not because he's cleaner, he's not, not one bit, but simply because that's the way the bio passport works - it can't stop doping, but it does seem somewhat to restrict it. and he probably justified it to himself too - i'm not REALLY doping; not like the good 'ol days.

The kid stuff? Boohickey.

One more thing - did he at one stage say "thank god"..i thought he was an atheist?

I just read this on twitter.

"At the end of the interview Oprah will give a free testicle to every member of the audience. #doprah"

ROFL :D

Low point: when he claimed that he asked his ex-wife if he should make a comeback. I don't buy the drama of that. Yeah, they probably talked about it for 30 seconds, but I doubt that it was the dramatic, life-changing, line-in-the-sand event that he portrayed it as.

Low point: tears when talking about his kids.

Low point: his poor mama.

Low point: $75M in losses = bad day. Sorry, I can't relate. Because of withholding change at the beginning of the year, my paycheck just dropped $400 - and I earn my money honestly.

Well he is obviously in therapy; he owned sociopath and narcisstic. In about 10 years he might be a worthwhile human being...he has begun the process of self awareness. Has 41 years to cover.

Much as I loathe him, and everything he is and stands for, As a human being i kinda hope that happens. LA the celeb, the sportsman is irredeemable. But for his kids sake, i hope the 'therapy' works - silently, where we never have to hear about it - but i hope it works.

not hopeful though.

Yeah, the biopassport seems like a parking brake to guys like Lance. You can drive, just not THAT great, though.

This whole clean shtick since '05 seem REALLY important to him, the whole purpose of his confession. He wants to do TRIS, win IronMan. I really doubt the latter's anywhere near possible. Lance runs like a duck. Check out 1:55 at:

Quack, quack!

It does show what a competitor the guy is, confessing because he wants to race TRIS. "Death sentence" to him is not competing, it seems.

This second part was a letdown.
Don't like the editing in this episode.
I was waiting to hear him say that he's willing to testify against the big guns!
Where did all that info go!?! Did he say that in Oprah's interview, or to someone else?

He clearly lied alot and was very manipulative (but Rome wasn't built in a day, so changes will take yeaaaaars). "Absolutely" is a dead giveaway and he very closely resembled "that guy" when answering Oprah's questions compared with when he was lying through the teeth under oath. The vernacular was the same: "Absolutely!!!", "100 percent!!!"

Am wondering if there was a re-edit and a new Part 2 was done, based on public reaction to the first part.

That would be the best investment he could ever make.

What's the point to mention the $75 million day? Did he expect any of us to relate to that and feel sympathy for?

No wonder Oprah gave him the "Aw you poor thing" look.

Didn't hear it, but folks in foxholes tend to pray, and he's being carpet bombed, B-52s, the lot right now. Not a lot of cover for Lance

The repeated use of "death sentence" was the one tiny, tiny moment where my human pity briefly flickered - 'cos that f*cked up sociopath genuinely cares more about 'winning' than money, which he has plenty of anyway.

by getting the life ban, Tygart got him, got him where it truly hurts. And that touched my pity button, briefly. His self-identity is to compete, unfairly, and Tygart has destroyed that, at least for now. - I reckon if WADA/USADA offered him TRIs from say 2016 - and immunity from jail - he might sing like a canary...

The only problem is, what do i want more - Bruyneel nailed to the cross, or Armstrong whithering away from lack of competition. chices, choices

It really bugs me that he has the gall to want to compete again. I hope he stays away from any race that I ever do, unless he's picking up water cups at an aid station as part of his punishment.
