Is there a source for that? Googling results in finding this post!

Delgado had a false positive for Probenecid in 1988. It was on the IOC banned list but not the UCI.

There's never been any rumours or dirt about Lemond as far as I can tell.

Thanks for that. I feel the tide turning. It's the start of the day here in rainy Wellington, NZ, and that statement just made my day.

Welcome, Mike. Remember my warning yesterday. You're going to be criticized by a couple of Lance fanboys on here, but they're the same unhinged nutjobs posting under different names.

Many of us are hoping the tide changes in cycling. Too many of these cheaters have robbed honest cyclists of a living. Lance's fan club watch the Simeoni incident on repeat.

A truly shameful day in cycling history.

Hope you're still riding your mountain bike despite all the crap you've been put through Mike. You may finally be vindicated.

Hi Mike,

Sorry I didn't include you in with Betsy and LeMond, but we all know you got screwed over too.

Yup bud, the truth is everything. Thanks.

Welcome Mike, good to have you here. The tide is indeed turning, and people like you and Betsy will be proven right.

Took out my Game of Shadows book again last night to look afresh at Jeff Novitzky. Lance is f*****. Just one example:
This guy spent every Monday night in his own free time going to BALCO headquarters, 'stealing' their rubbish, bringing it to a sorting area and then wading through it by hand. He did this every week for months, and built a case on this alone, in order to give him leads.

Any word on what's happening with OCLAESP and the 8 DNA profiles - shouldn't be too difficult to second guess who they belong to...

Welcome Mike and thanks for stating who you are openly - gives me the opportunity to thank you for your courage in standing up and speaking out.

If Novitzky brings down the mountain of fraud that Armstrong represents, it will be an incredible achievement and a sign that you can't dope your entire career, enforce Omerta, then ride off into the sunset with your bag of money.

I wish Novitzky all the success in the world in hammering the Armstrong doping cabal.

Good to have you here Mike, and apologies for my snarky comment earlier. I thought you were someone else.

Sorry, I didn't know what the BPC reference was about so I ignored it. I am who I am and I don't need to worry about what strangers on the internet think. :) As I wrote earlier, I am new to this forum, but not to cyclingnews.com I was a reader (and occasional reader contributor) to this site going back to the "Bill's Web Page" days in 1995.

I have never bothered to spend time bantering with faceless mobs on the internet about cycling related issues, as it really is pointless, i.e. you can't change people's minds once they are set. Why do I strap on my helmet today? Who knows, I guess I just have always been annoyed at 1) Half truths that get told often enough so that they become accepted as facts, 2) Angry people who stand to gain from accusations being treated as credible witnesses, and 3) The idea that if an athlete is better than the rest (and some of the rest have been shown to have cheated), then the athlete must be a cheat.
Here come the morality police. attacking the 'person' not the 'process'.

did you scan this entire forum for inappropriate material. there is a topless chick on a bike posted in the general thread. go bust *** there too bro

no really bro it sounds like you are the one changing definitions and terms

I guess it is that simple. People are simply jealous of Lance and that is their sole motivation and therefore LA is a victim....

UCI Needs Reform to start with

This post, and the others show that there are some who care about the future of cycling - by learning from the past...

I think the UCI is the real problem. It used to kill me when Hein Verbruggen would state "cycling doesn't have a doping problem". He is still in the inner circle having hand picked Pat McQuaid and being an IOC member. Just because some may now says cycling is OK, or comments like Pat McQuaid saying Floyd can't be believed now, just shows how much the UCI, the IOC, some (all?) of the Protour teams & managers, plus many current pro riders are intent on protecting their corrupt system - whatever the cost. Not that surprising really.

I wish Floyd had come out in 2006 like GL suggested.

Pat McQuaid and the UCI need to be reformed and the drug testing conducted by a true independent body.

How about Greg LeMond for UCI president?

Would any of this have come up if there wasn't Comeback 2.0? Would FLandis have felt it necessary to come out if Lance wasn't raking in more cash and wouldn't give FLandis a part on RS?
I honestly have no idea, but Lance might have gotten away with it if he didn't come back and have greed bite him in the ***.

I've been thinking the exact same thing. The comeback came off the tracks last year, when Lance was a ****-poor teammate to Contador. That alone turned off a lot of fans. Then you had to conflict between his stated intent with his comeback (raising cancer awareness) and his actions (taking huge appearance fees rather than soliciting donations to LAF, refusing to speak to the media during the Giro). Never understood why coming back to racing was necessary to promoting cancer awareness (it wasn't).

Still, it seems Landis was a ticking time bomb. I'm not sure there's anything Lance could have done to keep a lid on him.

It is a conflict of interest that the UCI bans the AFLD from testing that catches dopers, and runs the Biological Passport system even though they're more interested in the appearance that cycling is clean that it actually being clean. The ASO, which is owning or controlling more and more pro events, has the same attitude. When the latest Amaury took over, he stopped L'Equipe from investigating doping and breaking news stories about it, and limited then to publishing things that were common knowledge. Their reporters used to break all the positive tests.

The other issue is not that Armstrong doped but he taught others to dope. He showed Landis the way and when Floyd got dumped he didn't help him out of the mire. If that was me I'd feel like the man who introduced me to the world of doping and I kept my mouth shut should assist in getting me out of the gutter. Floyd did his bit but Armstrong didn't come through with the goods..

It also a nice link to why Armstrong was always so angry he team-members left Postal. He was worried they would tell the other teams what they were up to and worried they would make a mistake and get caught.

And sketchier still, all those former Lance domestiques who left to become team leaders elsewhere and challenge him for GC (Hamilton, Landis, Heras) all tested positive shortly after leaving. Quite the coincidence. Or maybe the game was rigged.

Also when Floyd won I'm sure Armstrong didn't want an American winner for some time. Not one like Landis that’s for sure.

Speaking of which. What was the big fallout those two riders had at the 2005 Tour of Georgia that carried on to the Tour? I remember mountain stage at the Tour when Landis and Armstrong were visibly remonstrating with each other.

Wasn't that the year that Tommy D won on Brasstown Bald(and the overall) and Armstrong marked Landis on the climb then pointed at the clock(and maybe a few choice words too) when they finished the stage?

Don't know about after the stage, but saw the clock pointing. Wondered at the time "what's that about?"
