Poor Contador...once he joined the team, everyone else left. Looks like a quite weak team now.

Contador didn't get involved until late July. I believe I read one of the new Team Lux signees saying that the Schlecks recruited him in May?

Cancellara would have helped in the TTT, but he also would have expected his normal stage wins and time in the yellow jersey. It's a lot more work for the team, because they can't take it easy on the non-mountain stages.

so why the mass exodus from saxo,..... back in the day it was all about getting into saxo, csc, lots of guys always saying how they were the best team etc...

The last years Bjarne has not been that hands on with the team. Kim Andersen has been running things instead. It is the departure of Kim Andersen that has made it all fall apart.

He did. Bjarne Riis Said that he had explained to Andy and Frank that he was negotiating with Contador during the tour. He took contact with Contador the first time before the tour. It has been said that Cancellara was angry for not knowing. So Andy and Frank knew even though they had stated they would leave the team, but not Cancellara:confused:

A shame, but this is what Riis does.

make superstars and when they are on top of the cycling world, and to big, then others can take over, and he can make som new world stars.

Great that he has Contador, and a rider like contador is normally not a rider Riis would take, because his is on the top, but Contador was also connected if he wanted new headsponsors.

i Guess Fabian likely will go to the new lux team, so he can still be with his teammates from Saxo bank and Kim Andersen.

Damn Riis you have made friends for life on team saxo bank ,and they wants to stay together rest of there life
.

I think you are spot on in this comment. Look at the names leaving and how long they have been on the team together. It's the core of the team leaving, a core that has traveled, lived and worked together for about 5 years in most of the cases here. Kim Andersen leaving, The Schlecks leaving, taking Jens Voigt and Stuart O'Grady with them. Those 5 are really good friends with Cancellara and so on.

I think Cancellara will go to team Lux because of the friend-factor. I simply don't see why he was in such a hury to get to BMC all of a sudden and ruin his reputation along the way. On team Lux they have money. BMC has too, but on Lux his friends are as well:rolleyes:

Fabian is pretty big in the head and needs a daddy and comfort.

And when it was clear that Riis wouldn be his daddy next year, but first of all would be there for Contador.

Then he act like a child, and want to make a notice of him self, like we seen yesterday, where he didnt want to make the work he should and help Frank at the end of the stage as agreed, but instead did it his way and leave everybody very fast.

He is a great rider, but i guess with a mind like a child, and its his way or the highway.

anyway i hope that Fabian finds a Daddy that will comfort him and can make a man out of him..

Its a shame that such a great partnership where the Saxo & CSC team has been on top of the world, should end like this.

They are not just friends, they are drinking buddies. The bond can not get any tighter than that.:D

I think Canceralla has made a smart move. Contador is essentially a one man band essentially and has not brought over any riders that can help Fabian in the classics. Fabian, obviously is a classics rider (and time trialist) and wants to be in a team that

1. Helps him win classics
2. Give him some lee-way in the GT's to win stages, wear yellow
3. Has a rider he wants to ride for in the GT's
4. Has some mates in it

The new Alberto Contador led team does not really fit this build.

I accept that Nuyens is there, but he is a bit of a mystery as far as I am concerned

He's not signing with anyone. Hes planning to ride next season as an independant and still whupp everyones butts.

BMC or Team Schleck are the obvious destinations. BMC has the Swiss connection and a very good line-up of support for the classics. Team Schleck of course has the wealth of previous connections.

Would like to see him go to the Schlecks TBH. They need someone like The Canc if they're going to threaten the Contador-Riis axis in the Tour next year. Plus, the man-love evident when The Canc hugged Baby Schleck following the final TT in the Tour this year was very touching. It was a mixture of admiration, for how close he came, comiseration for a bitterly close loss, and obvious friendship. I would hate to see it be broken...[/sob story]

Doesn't look particularly weak to me:

-Contador
-Porte
-Noval
-Navarro
-Hernandez
-Chris Anker Sorensen
-Larsson

Seems like the basis for a pretty excellent Tour squad. Obviously it looks a lot better with The Canc in it.... But certainly as good, if not better, than the Astana team this year.

... and everyone left the last team he was on.

Come on Bjarne, don't be sour about it ... no need to talk badly of Cancellara or the Luxembourg team. That wasn't necessary in my opinion..

I think it's gonna be BMC ... they'll let him do anything. If he wants to completely change and become a GT contender in 5 years, they're the ones who'll let him do it.

He didn't. He was very diplomatic. He said that they have had some great years together.

Cancellara to BMC? ACF will be stiff for a month.

lol brilliant.

Fabians 5 monuments dream might come into conflict with Cuddles LBL wishes. If canc joins to add to the other recruits, cuddles wont lose minutes in the ttt. Unless Canc and everyone else just does the TOC while Cuddles is in Italy. Pretty much what cost him last time.
