About Johan, he would probably been fired anyways, the Kazakh cycling federation was not happy about what he did with the team and so on. And mocking a rider for doping belongs in the clinic. Why dont you make a new topic in the clinic. "Astana the most doped team ever". Then you would feel better.

But right now you are just beeing ignorant, saying Johan did not want a doper on his team, Levi tested positive back in 96. Lance got samples from 99 that are positive, Kloden has been involved in doping. A bunch of Lance teammates where doped. This is thoughts on Astana so far. Not from last year, i am tired of Lance fans that protect him like he was there father.

I like to watch Lance race, i was excited when he did the comback in 08. But i am not a fcuking idoit that are so ignorant and protects him. HE IS AND ***, but it's still funny to watch and old man race.

Hey man why are you defending the corrupt Kazak? Are you that desparate to go that low? Also you don't tell me where I need to post to feel better because I feel fine thank you.

You are so desparate you talk about Levi 14 years ago in some B level race for taking a cold medicine and Lance after his test suddenly appeared years after 1999. Vriman made a mockery out of that issue and you can believe what you want next thing you will be linking stuff from the UCI to prove your point and then on the next thread be calling them corrupt like your buddy pubicus.

Klody has never tested positive just like Lance and Levi. Unlike Vino who is a present day unrepentant doper who Johan believed would be a cancer on Astana and return the culture of doping. I'm glad he left and formed Radio Shack and I hope he wins his lawsuit for the sake of protecting the riders. We will see who gets the last laugh and fortunately for Contadoper he has the Kazaks to protect him now. If he was on an American team he would suddenly lose 20% power because we don't put up with the cheating. He will leave Astana next year and pop over to a team in Spain where they protect their rider like Valverde so it will still be all good.

Uh.

Guys why do you keep stroking this guys' (and many other's) peen and helping him in heaping loads and loads of sh!t instead of reasonable posts here?

I could be missing something, but i don't find much pleasure in such a unnatural activities.

Any reaction to posters like these is just a water on their mill and only adds to their purpose to carry on their misbehaving and random hate trollling.

Please don't feed the trolls. I haven't looked at anything since my own last post for that reason. Ignore lists only work if people don't quote.

Enrico Gasparotto and Valentin Iglinsky abandoned the Giro today. I can't find word of a crash or injury, not that there had to be one with a 150 mile stage 11 in the rain. Does this mean we add Gasparotto to our list of Tour possibles?

Edit: The Astana riders dropped out with a stomach bug that's going around, so it should mean a few days of rest, and then there's six weeks for Gasparotto to get ready for the Tour if he's invited.

Ah. Thanks for digging that up. Bad luck.

It was at Velonews. There were no further details, but after reading a story there the other week about a rider who removed his own four foot tapeworm, I was grateful for that.

With all the long hard days in a row, transfers, cold and rain, an airplane flight, etc., I can imagine the whole peloton's resistance is pretty low. And they've still got two regular stages and two mountain ones before they rest.

Ah; there were a few days when Velonews was crashing my browser so I "missed" them. "Readable" again today.

Yeah, I could have done without the tapeworm saga too. But it does point out just one more risk that cyclists need to be aware of-- check bloodwork for parasites yearly...

Eight Astana riders are spending time doing some quick recon of the Tour de France climbs in the Pyrenees. They trained on Stage 14 Saturday, Stage 15 Sunday, and were on the Tourmalet from the Stage 16 side Monday, where they ran into the Schleck brothers at the top.

The eight Astana riders were Contador, Benjamin Noval, Oscar Pereiro, Jesus Hernandez, Daniel Navarro, David de la Fuente, Tiralongo and Dimitry Fofonov.

Vino is obviously off somewhere recovering from the Giro. Allan Davis has tweeted a couple of times that he did a couple of days of TdF recon last week, as if he thinks he's definitely going to be there. So who will miss out, and who that hasn't been mentioned might be there? I imagine that Contador, and Martinelli if he's along, are looking for shows of strength or weakness. It will be interesting to see who is named for the Dauphine Libere squad - Pereiro was initially penciled in as leader for the Tour de Suisse.

Does anyone want to update your own picks for the TdF squad?

Dmitry Fofonov heard that someone told someone it's gonna be "teams's all spaniards with me and Tiralongo", which should be the same roster that they have now in training in Pyrenees, namely:

eight Astana riders were Contador, Benjamin Noval, Oscar Pereiro, Jesus Hernandez, Daniel Navarro, David de la Fuente, Tiralongo and Dimitry Fofonov.

And oh -- i'm glad that Tiralongo is back and feeling well.

Dauphine Libere (probably): Contador, De La Fuente, Fofonov, Hernandez, Navarro, Noval, Pereiro and Zeits.

Thanks for the link. Cyclismag said they got the news from AstanaFans, but I didn't scroll down far enough when I went looking.

Yeah, I guess it was good news for Tour de France hopes that Tiralongo had to leave the Giro early. I'm surprised that Maxim Iglinsky and a few others aren't included. Liquigas is taking fifteen guys to their Tour de France training camp and picking the team from there. It's hard to believe Astana has their final nine already.

Do they keep these eight together for the Dauphine so they can do more recon together later, and have a different set of riders for the Tour de Suisse?

On one hand I really like to see Hernandez, the loyal training partner of Alberto, there. But they also need the strongest nine guys to make this happen. Contador is a pro, so if he has input into the decision, I'm fine with whoever makes the list. I'd sure be surprised to see Davis there.

Contador obviously feels comfortable with Jesus Hernandez there, so it is likely he will make the team.

Cycling has many examples of leaders having riders they trust and like on the same team...i.e. Jan Ullrich and Tobias Steinhauser.

I've got no problem with it. I feel loyalty and friendship should be rewarded. But when guys from the Giro squad started dropping out early without serious injuries, I thought his spot might be lost. Personally, I'm really pleased with the eight in the group, as they signed on to help Alberto, and will leave skin on the road to prove they're better than people were saying at the start of the year.

This dude looks like he could be a mad partier when the season is over. He makes sweating in a sauna with a stupid hat look enjoyable.

It would be nice if people from Kazakhstan made a stronger effort to invalidate the stereotypes portrayed in Borat.

Why? Americans graciously elected a two time version of their worst stereotype...and gave him weapons.

That's pretty obvious. Just have to look at the unemployment figures. Take it to Obama thread to continue. Or pm me.

so the worst American stereotype is an educated liberal black man?

Not a bible bashing lethal injection loving warmonger who pretended he was some sort of cowboy rather than a spoiled east coast fratboy who failed at everything and had to be bought everything by rich daddy?

Let's try and keep the politics off the thread. For your sake as much as anything. It's a European working class sport popular among middle class hipsters in the English speaking world. You won't get much sympathy for your rightwing idiocy and bile here.

From the Dauphine live feed:

Today’s L’Equipe reports about the Astana team. According to French sports daily newspaper, team manager Yvon Sanquer has already selected seven riders for the Tour de France: Alberto Contador, Alexandre Vinokourov, Dimitri Fofonov, Daniel Navarro, Maxim Iglinskiy, Benjamin Noval and Paolo Tiralongo. During the Dauphiné and the two following days when Astana will reconnoitre the Alpine stages, Andrey Zeits, David De La Fuente and Jesus Hernandez will try to show their capacity of riding the Tour in support of Contador. Four more riders are on Sanquer’s short list: Oscar Pereiro, Andreï Grivko, Gorazd Stangelj and Allan Davis.

Tough call for the final two slots. I'd really love to see Pereiro complete his own sort of comeback with a great showing at the Tour de Suisse. Contador said he won't decide about the last part of the season until after the Tour. I hope he rides the Vuelta and includes some of the guys who miss out on this one.

I don't know about the rumors for next year. I'd hate to see him leave Specialized after they've worked so hard with him this year. He rode a smaller prototype sort of TT bike yesterday in the Prologue, the result of many conversations with the engineers. He said there are still changes to be made to get it perfect for the Tour. It would be nice if once they get it right, he could use it again in 2011.

I don't know how accurate the list is but it seems pretty accurate. I would say they need at least one more engine/big body and a climber. I personally don't think Allan Davis has shown anything to warrant consideration for this Tour. Certainly not in comparison to the other guys under consideration.
