Gaviria has a bit more top end speed than Ewan, though thought Ewan would finish over the top in the last 50 metres.

Gaviria ..at last a good looking Columbian rider ...its a breakthrough
Oliverio Rincon and Santi Botero are devastated ... Diana Penuela and Mariana Pajon are disconsolate :)

Good looking in terms of what? Matinee idol looks or style on the bike (or both)?

Just saw the sprint. That was some frickin bad asz stuff. Made Sagan look like an amateur. And on the hoods

Didn't like to see Sagan elbowing the Lampre rider going round that tight left hand bend near the finish. Had the Lampre rider not sat up and stopped his sprint he'd have gone straight into the barrier.

Agreed. And then Sagan seemed to get boxed in by his own leadout man!?
Not his finest finale...

This video has a great overhead camera view of the last K.

Cool to see Ewan and Gav surfing back and forth through the peloton. No trains needed for those guys. And what was Sagan waiting for? He was completely teed up and in the perfect position in 2nd wheel. Instead, he waits and Gav and Ewan go blasting past.

Still trying to work out who Cav was working for
Maybe he just didn't want to get schooled by the young bucks. :p

I'm really curious to see how tomorrows stage will be. Rain is possible but unfortunately unlikely which makes a really great stage less likely. But still tomorrow could be interesting...or more likely a simple bunch sprint stage, but hope dies last :D

I didn't see the interview, but I did see this gem posted elsewhere. I hope it's true

WTF was Carlton Kirby on about?

Gaviria: "Si. Completamente feliz. Primera carrera WorldTour y [muffled] una victoria."
Kirby's translation: "Well, I just want to say thank you to my team. Without them I couldn't have had this victory"

Gaviria: "Es bastante satisfatorio, bastante alentador"
Kirby's translation: "It's hugely satisfying of course"

Gaviria: "...para mi y para el equipo que pueden confiar ya en mi en carreras grandes también"
Kirby's translation: "I've got some amazing teammates"

Great sprint from Gaviria, also great overhead video from 1km out. Both of Ewan and Gaviria work their way through the pack very well, you can see the moments in which they both surf on momentum / good position through the corners and when they are both stalled by other riders and not able to put down the power. Cool that you can see when they both really turn it on in the last 100m or so with no distractions they gap all the others.

I didn't think Gaviria was any better than Ewan through the pack: if you watch it closely there are so many random factors affecting positioning, but they both did much better than anyone else.

Both monsters. Its pretty clear this will be a great matchup over the next years.

He has to be least qualified person for any job in the world. I would be immediately fired If I were close that imcompetent
