This isn't normal Vegni. He doesn't normally do this. I mean, in 2013 the roads were actually impassable and I understand how some of these stages had to be cancelled, but Terminillo last year had snow and this is an uphill finish, snow is only going to be on the highest slopes. A flat stage with the MTF will be OK for me. :(

Gaviria not that great today. Maybe Milano Sanremo is a step too far right now.
Gaviria was holding his own in the main peloton until Cancellara went berserk. Finishing in the 2nd group as the only sprinter ain't that bad.

I know that you are biased but

62MODOLOSachaLampre - Merida ,,
63GAVIRIAFernandoEtixx - Quick Step ,,

I was referring to the main sprinters out there, e.g: Ewan, Cavendish, etc. Or you must think Modolo is one of the top sprinters in the field, and a possible threat for MSR, which I certainly don't agree on.

He was 4th as a neo pro in MSR
I know. What has he done since? He's always had some kind of reputation solely based on his performance in that edition of MSR.

Vegni said snow level will be at 800 metres+ so looks like it would affect other climbs on the stage too..

Cycling is going to lose some of it's grandeur with all this stupid weather protocol stuff. The Giro has bad weather and it's made for epic racing. I can't imagine how many stages they're going to butcher there.

Exactly. Low flat until MTF.

This guy is in charge of the Giro right? Bad weather this Giro and Dumoulin might win it

That's what I was thinking. Luckily the dolomite stage only reaches 2236m, shouldn't be too much of a problem. Hopefully then Vegni returns to his 2014 spirit: last resort is cancellation, all before we try to do whole stage.

This is ridiculous.....

Why couldn't they do at least the MTF?

Because there is no way to get there.
Snow is affecting the whole area. It's a mountainous area, so whichever course they chose, they would be facing snow anyway.
I'm pretty sure that if the issue had been only with the final climb, the stage would have gone ahead, probably setting up a finish line a few kms before the original one.
