The murito became a bit too long and steep for MVDP.

I wonder if he can handle Mur De Huy? Poggio Murella is a step above but not by that much.
We 've had this discussion a bunch of times in the MvdP topic. Not a lot of people think that he could win FW unless in a freak year when the usual suspects aren't present or the race circumstances somehow put him in a favorable position.

I agree. I could see him doing a "Matthews" this year and getting 6th or something but MDH should be a bit too long for him. Especially against the likes of Alaphilippe and Roglic.

The movements of Woods purito'ing the four chasers on the steepest part. It looks like they are riding on wooden planks. Lumber is the new gravel?

I think Fleche is short enough for him to top 10, unlike today. But not really much more. Sagan got 12th the one time he finished it.

It looks like the slope is steep enough that when they poured it in concrete, they had formwork on top. Then when they stripped the boards up, they left seams on the rough surface for traction. The remaining surface would look like the grain of the boards that they pulled off it.

Agree

If stage yesterday, that climb was a bit shorter and a bit less steep he'd survive in the 2nd group. Now it just took too long and it became even steeper so he cracked.

British Eurosport/GCN commentators just mixed up Fabio Jakobsen and Jasper Philipsen. Though, they did correct themselves.
