he didn't dust off his shoulders now, did he?I wonder how his celebration will go down on social media. When Evenepoel dusted off his shoulder it nearly resulted in WWIII and it took extensive international lobbying for all nuclear powers to stand down. This celebration is not that different, also saying "too easy", "i'm the best", "not breaking a sweat"... But something tells me this time Twitter and Wielerflits will not explode for some reason.
Exactly..the others have not been in the radar so far...it is getting sillyImagine that Sagan was in form? It would be 30-50% of the stages to these fellows!
TouchéI have always thought that Sagan is arrogant

To add to that.Hmm...If he lets MvdP chase, maybe he secures a win and 10 boni seconds or at the worst he comes in second behind Stybar and again secures 6 boni seconds like he actually did in real life. There's also a nightmare scenario, where he would let MvdP chase, but Mathieu wouldn't chase and than beat him in a sprint for second so he gains only 4 boni seconds. But I don't think the latter scenario is realistic and belongs more in the "Slight miss from me. Move along." thread.
Fair enough. I enjoyed them though. If you're that good and have the time then you might as well make something out of your celebration. That 'Jesus' pose many do is just boring IMHO..And they were seen as such by a lot of forum users.
I think he chased because he was in the position to chase. Like at the moment it was his job to chase Stybar. To add to that.
To be frank, it's a difficult decision he had to make in a fraction of a second so I'm not criticising him. It's just an observation and my point of view.
I think a lot of that was because of his age. Some prefer precocious types be a bit more humble towards their elders.I wonder how his celebration will go down on social media. No, he crossed his arms and gazed at the sky as if he wasn't really trying. Which, to be frank, may even be true. It's simply an observation, i have no issue with his celebration, nor did i have an issue with that of Evenepoel.he didn't dust off his shoulders now, did he?![]()
MvDP can thanks Van Aert. Without his help he wouldnt win.
Sagan bad legs or was holded by fall? I think I saw him unharmed but involved in it.
He doesn't have to take boniseconds on van der Poel, he has to take them on Bernal, Bardet, Pogacar.Hmm...If he lets MvdP chase, maybe he secures a win and 10 boni seconds or at the worst he comes in second behind Stybar and again secures 6 boni seconds like he actually did in real life. Gets criticized for being too stoic, criticized for being too exuberant, now he's arrogant. That was arrogant
I have no idea, i know van der Poel was addicted to playing Fortnite, but i have no idea if that had anything to do with it. Evenepoel has always been a Michael Jackson fan, and claims his dusting off the shoulder move, was taken from a Michael Jackson choreography.I don't play Fortnite or any of these recents videogames, but can it be related to that? It seemed like a pose some of that videogames style might have, from the short clips I see sometimes.
To be clear, the only celebrations I've criticized in my life are the early ones.Fair enough. I enjoyed them though. If you're that good and have the time then you might as well make something out of your celebration. That 'Jesus' pose many do is just boring IMHO..

I don't think it was that calculated, I just think in the heat of battle, he saw what DQ was doing, was in the right position, and instinctively went for it. In any case, I think he was fairly confident in getting bonus seconds no matter what from that point. Now, what he says after time to absorb the stage could be completely different. He doesn't have to take boniseconds on van der Poel, he has to take them on Bernal, Bardet, Pogacar.
If he chases Stybar, he knows on that finish he will still take 4 seconds most likely, in case he gets beaten by van der Poel and Alaphilippe. If he lets Stybar go, and he loses the sprint of van der Poel and Alaphilippe, he takes 0 seconds on Pogacar & Bernal. He chose to ride for his GC and not for stagewin.
I think it was very calculated, he knew van der Poel was in his wheel, he even looked back before he started to close the gap.I don't think it was that calculated, I just think in the heat of battle, he saw what DQ was doing ,was in the right position, and instinctively went for it. I know he said he doesn't want to waste energy this T-A, but I seriously want to see MvdP try to go full gas on the Prati di Tivo. He's not a climber, but with his power he won't be far from the likes of Bernal, Pogacar..
He didn't look back until he was already committed. I certainly don't think he was doing all that mental math you described.I think it was very calculated, he knew van der Poel was in his wheel, he even looked back before he started to close the gap.
yeah same, he made the choice to go for GC in that instant.I think it was very calculated, he knew van der Poel was in his wheel, he even looked back before he started to close the gap.
A real shame that for the 2nd year in a row, we're unlikely to see him in the mix in the classics. I don't know, maybe he can get his form back in time for Roubaix but I have my doubts. Getting Covid really set hum back.He was involved but also has very bad legs.
