He isn't when it comes to actual mountains. Maybe he underpeformed a bit during the Tour last year, but he only finished it because Debusschere sacrificed himself on the Col de la Loze stage.
yeah, but that was because he crashed hard a couple of days before. He worked a lot on his climbing over the past years

You may be right. Obviously since he moved away from the track he has had time do that, but I'm not sure how much he has benifited from it when comes to riding in the mountains. But he's obviously a better puncheur than he used to be, but so was Ewan a couple of years ago.

Just realising how little I’ve noticed Coquard in big races over the last few years. I honestly don’t know how representative his terrible Tour climbing was.

The amount of effort required to get to the front from halfway back in the pack, follow WvA chasing Stybar and then beat everyone in the sprint must have been insane.

WVA didn’t have much choice but to chase, but I dont think it would have mattered, MVdP too strong...
