Also said he couldn't even ride 300 watts anymore in the last 10k btw. And he said it wasn't from eating. Just the cold and the long solo
Hey look. Evenepoel only won Poland, San Sebastian, Algarve because they let him win.
Not wearing a jacket for an eternity and no gloves either probably played a big part. Also said he couldn't even ride 300 watts anymore in the last 10k btw. And he said it wasn't from eating. Just the cold and the long solo

Pogi was the smartest when it came to wearing a rain jacket between the top 3 of the stage.
Today was one of those stages where endurance and the size of your gas tank are more important that the size of your engine.
But most importantly, VdP won today cause Remco wasn't thereThey would never have let him go (or extend his lead) in the first place. Wellens who is closer in GC, was countered every time, other riders could go.

Van Aert rode the final 5k fastest of the 3 of them. Was 1m45s down, and only 45s at the finish. Pogacar had already passed the 5k mark when they showed him 1m10s chasing. The Dutch/Belgian Eurosport guys were timing it.
This is true in every race, won by anyone. But most importantly, VdP won today cause Remco wasn't there
He could ride any race, but he can't ride every race.I would really like to see him riding Amstel and LBL this year. Both races should suit him with the level he is at the moment.
Pogacar has a much bigger motor, but only in the mountains. Didn't saw that motor at Strade...Perhaps only MvdP resting yesterday could have pulled off what he did today, even if a certain Pogacar with a much bigger motor almost spoiled the party.
Perhaps Alaphilippe will be in the breakaway and win from there. So tommorrow will somebody else win or MVDP and WVA will switch to bunch sprinters mode again?
I think the main thing with Pog is his recovery power, he can do those 450W for half an hour every dayPogacar has a much bigger motor, but only in the mountains. Didn't saw that motor at Strade...

In the near vicinity, there's no other relevant terrain. You also have this one right next to the Ventoux:

Speaking about MVP I recall that he also cracked in cold weather conditions during WC'19, when he looked like a big favourite and suddenly was completely empty.
