Ewan in almost the opposite of yesterday. Positions himself well and times the sprint perfectly. The only similarity was little team help?

When Ewan gets it right he is very hard to beat. It is the inconsistency in positioning that lets him down sometimes. Both the lack of help from teammates and his own doing in some cases. It it what is and maybe hard to do anything about it. As long as the wins keep coming everyone is happy.

There was also a headwind on the finishing straight , hard to beat him under those conditions.

Sprints looked more uncomfortable for all the fast guys because of the cobbles.

Fortunately, the stones were belgian block. Imagine a full peloton sprinting on a road of real cobblestones.

Pogacar is so good nobody om CN ever thinks hell pay for his efforts in the following days
He never seems to, he was supposed to be tired from Strade here according to some people too. The only times* when he's struggled over the past year was when it's hot, I guess his machinery overheats or something.

*not including the time he got dropped on a descent in Itzulia

Agreed, he's generally not as good at positioning without teammates as some other top sprinters. He'd likely be almost unbeatable at QS.

agreed 100%.

also no one is ridiculing him for fighting for bonuses as they did remco at the giro last year. because he can waste energy and still crush everyone on the hills/mountains.

he took a while to get back up to shape after the TDF last year -- got dropped in several races. tho he then hit it perfectly in time for lombardy.

Olympics too.

Pogs pure climbing isnt that far ahead of everyone else if even, but his fatigue resistance is what makes him so hard to beat.
